Are raw sprouts going to make me sick?

Hello everyone. I am trying to go raw (i'm vegetarian) and I cook the sprouts I grow at home because I am terrified of salmonella and e. coli. I blanch them for 2-3 minutes. Is the risk of food poisoning from srpouts really as high as the FDA says it is? I'd love to eat them raw, but I don't want to get sick.
