Best way to get truly raw seaweed is to kayak out into the ocean and scoop some up!! I like to rinse it off good and then toss with some fresh squeezed lemon, chopped ginger/garlic, raw tahini or sesame seeds and let it marinate.
hmmmm I live in the midwest so I’m not sure that’s going to work out!

Try oriental markets. Many nori’s and other seaweed from Japan are still dried on racks in the sun. I am fortunate to live in Alaska, where I have the best of both worlds… a clean ocean full of seaweed (in the summer), and a multi-ethnic population that has launched a huge demand for excellent restaurants and ethnic markets.
Be careful about taking seaweed from open water, though. It starts chemically degrading fast, once it tears loose of its holdfast (‘roots’). Best to take it right off the rocks on a clean beach.
kelp and sea spaghetti is the most popular raw fooder’s seaweed here in the UK. I have always found kelp to be raw.
