Help: Need Indian Recipes!

germin8germin8 Raw Master

I am looking for Indian recipes. I have two months to try several Indian recipes for a class I am teaching. I would love to make two Indian dishes… (most people would be Indian). Unfortunately, there are no tags for the word “Indian” on the main page… so I assume there are none on this website. But, a quick search of the word “indian” brings up 15 of them. If you could add the “Indian” tag to your recipe, that would be great… or if you have a “you must try this Indian recipe”, I would love that even more... and I’ll be sure to try it out! Thanks so much.

I also take recommendations from books. I’m going to try the samosas from Raw Food Real World (love that book! my no-fail recipes book)

germin8: If you search for Indian in the recipes section, there are almost 20 recipes posted as well as a handful tagged Indian. Also, I just saw this Indian smoothie posted plus this East Indian cracker recipe has been rated in our top 10 overall on the site.

Hope these help – I’d love to hear how your class turns out!

To find additional Indian recipes that might not be labeled “Indian”, search on “typical” ingredients used in Indian food like curry, tumeric, coriander, cumin, etc. If you are unfamiliar with Indian food, check out Indian restaurant and food sites.

Yes, I did a search from the main page… and saw the recipes… but, why isn’t “Indian” in the “Browse Recipes by Tag” on the Home page? Or in the “Recipe Categories” in the Recipes page?

Can I navigate to the URL you sent me, http://goneraw.com/recipes/list/indian , from the website (i.e. not using the link you sent me)?

Judging by the URL, it seems I can change “indian” to be any of the tags listed and not-listed to see a listing of all those recipes tagged that way. For example:

using the word “holiday” in the tag list: http://goneraw.com/recipes/list/holiday
using the word “test” not in the tag list: http://goneraw.com/recipes/list/test

Where can I navigate to recipes whose tag is not listed in the “recipe category” or “browse recipes by tag”? Am I missing something somewhere?

Hi germin8: You have indeed figured out the secret (changing that last word in that URL will show you all recipes with that tag). Because there are so many random tags on the site, we have a threshold for what shows up as a quick link on the sidebars on the home and recipes pages. I believe that a tag needs to have over 3 recipes before it starts showing up at present. This may change as more recipes are added or pages are redesigned.

  • Carmella over at The Sunny Raw Kitchen has a great Indian section with links to other recipes. http://thesunnyrawkitchen.blogspot.com/2007/04/...

Hope this helps. I love, love, love Indian food.

I added one a while back, it is fab, we sell it on our website people love it:

Do a search for curry instead of Indian, you get 26 results that way.

    Just an update.

The class is turning into a heart-healthy class. The update is here: http://goneraw.com/forums/2/topics/2877

I guess I won’t be making an all-Indian recipes class.

  • Im currently working on a raw Chana Masala dish .. i will post a recipe once it is created!

Awesome. Are you using chickpeas? ...or a substitute? Can’t wait to see.
