demeating a coconut

how do you get the darn meat out of the coconut? i cut my hand trying to scrape it out with a spoon the other day. help!and to get the milk? i thought maybe drill it open? what a pain though!

Try a young thai coconut… that’s soft meat you can scoop out! Plus, it has the coconut water.

For the mature coconuts are tough scrape the meat out… I use a knife to cut it out or a potato peeler… and I find a lot of time!

I know all about the young coconuts but I personally prefer mature coconuts for making coconut pudding. There’s gotta be a trick or a special kind of tool?
