Oil soaked garlic

I’ve heard that if you soak peeled garlic cloves in extra-virgin olive oil overnight or more they become more tolerable to the stomach and cause less rancid breath. I once saw it served in a restaurant as an appetizer. People were eating cloves by the spoonful.Anyone ever tried it?

I haven’t heard that although I will try it. I have found for myself though that on an all raw diet raw garlic does not make me smell. If I eat it cooked THEN I stink in a big way!!

Haven’t tried it myself, but I do remove the center of each clove…this makes it much more tolerable for people to eat (removes that super hot garlic flavor).

  • I used to eat these in handfuls in my non-raw days, when I was working in a deli. Maybe I should get back into them! They are delicious – they have a much milder garlic taste, but still retain a crunchy texture. You also end up with a very nice garlic-infused olive oil.

These were left in the oil longer than overnight, though …
