dehydrated foods

I was just wondering if I dehydrate a vegetable does that make it higher calorie? People always say dried fruits are higher calorie and I was wondering why that is. I wanted to dehydrate some vegetables for a trip I am making next month but I am trying to lose some weight and didn’t know if that was such a good idea. I guess it’s better than cooked foods, but I didn’t know if I should just put out the extra effort and eat raw or dehydrate and have things ready to eat.

Any thoughts? I was thinking of making raw guacamole and some raw veggie “chips” to dip in it for my family. And some raw “bacon”... yum.

Slosh-uh – you don’t change the calorie content by drying it. It always has the same amount of calories. However, you reduce the BULK by removing the water. so it’s easy to eat 20 dried apricots, but eating 20 fresh apricots could fill you up more easily because of the water.
