ew, my dad's yellow nails!

Hey everyone, so my dad has had this disgusting nail fungus for years, and he is about to embark on a month-long raw food detox, and was wondering what he could do that would potentially help rid his feet of this digusting nastiness? hehe. Aren’t probiotics supposed to help? Any topical treatments? Help me help my dad!

  • I developed nail fungus on my fingernails since becoming raw last Summer. Nothing is helping so far.

I’ve been using raw apple cider vinegar, and pau de arco. No relief yet. They hurt!

Hope to hear of some natural remedies from others.

  • Any type of skin/nail fungus is very hard to get rid of, even on a raw food diet. I’ve had a skin fungus for several years, and going raw has only slowed (not reversed) its growth. The one thing I would suggest is for your dad to eat as few sugars as possible (including fruit). Lots of vegetable juices, ginger, and garlic should help. Also, definitely refrain from giving him any agave nectar or honey. Concentrated sugars like these (even though they’re raw), will help feed the fungus.

    Hope this helps.

I am interesting in this topic too.

I have read about tea tree essential oil, but don’t know anyone who has try it. It’s suppsed to be atiseptic and antifungal.

    Urine is a natural antifungal.

I would try the tea tree oil or Mediating mentioned in another thread that GSE was antifungal.

I have used tea tree oil on a skin fungus before and I applied it twice a day and got rid of it (I used the diluted form btw – the straight stuff might give you skin burn)

Oh, I tried this natural mud clay on my tinea versicolor last year (that is basically candida on your skin – shows up when you try to tan as white spots) and I think it worked a little bit on me – I got of got lazy and stopped treatement – but it supposed to be good for nail fungus too. It says toe nails fungus – you didn’t mention is the fungus on the fingernails or the toes?

But read about it on the site: http://www.torfspa.com/saprox.html

It is a natural sulfur mud. In that vain, I would also try some MSM lotion (or aloe vera raw – both high in sulfur) and have your dad to start taking MSM internally too.

Yep, Good old GSE will get that nail fungus. I know this surfer guy that had these thick yellow toe nails with big ridges in them, I told him he had hobbit feet. LOL. He didn’t want to take the Rx due to the side effects so he did 15 drops GSE morning and night. It finally went away but it took almost three months and you need to keep taking it for a month after all the symptoms disapear so it won’t come back. Nail fungus indicates a strong, systemic problem.

I had many friends years ago who showed cats – very expensive cats. The drug they give you for nail fungus – the one that is advertised with the little cartoon monsters that lift up your toenails – has been available for years under another name but only approved for animal use. It was very well understood by those breeding show cats that this stuff had a high incident of feline deaths and ongoing health problems associated with it thereafter. I would assume the version for humans today is “improved,” but who cares.

I would also dilute a few drops of GSE with oil and apply it topically to the nail and cuticle area.

    GSE = Grapefruit Seed Extract?

    KEVLAR - Yes.

sweet! This is all very helpful, I will pass the info along, thanks as always guys.

Do you ever wonder who the first person was to decide and try putting grape seed extract onto their nails to see if it makes their fungus disappear? hehe, sometimes I just have to wonder about that stuff. Just seems so random sometimes.

  • I was just at the dr and was told that I also have toe nail fungus on my left big toe. He wants to put me on the medication for THREE MONTHS! I almost cried when he told me I had to take something internally. Especially when he informed me of the side effects. I really don’t want to take it. But I don’t want the fungus either. I did some research and read about ACV and Tea Tree Oil. I just started soaking my toe in straight ACV at night and then putting straight Tea Tree oil in it in the morning as I don’t have time to soak my toe in the ACV each morning. I’ll let you know how it works. Something has to cure it besides that nasty medication. Besides, if I took the medication I might have a nice new toe nail but what about my liver? I think that’s a little more important that my toe. Doctors think they know everything!!! Is grapefruit seed extract the same as grape seed extract? It sounds like they are two different things. I would like to try that too.

  • This condition runs in my family, and only affects males with the nail fungus. It typicaly grows on two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand. Sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on the constitution of the individual. The reason why at least one arpendege is generally free, is because the body gives up fighting on three of them and concentrates on at least one, be it one hand, or one foot. For females the same ailment, which is basicaly a form of candida shows up in vaginal infections in older women, or brain fog/depression in younger women. Anyway, I helped my dad by putting him on caprilic acid 600 mg. twice daily. (Capsules are enteric coated, allowing contents to be released into the intestines.) First dose before food in the morning. It can cause nausea/ excess salivation, but that is just a sign that it is working, and if he will go ahead and eat when the nausea comes, and then lies down, it will go away. Also, I give him black currant oil 3 times a day, as well as a multi pill with Black walnut hulls, elcampane root, and red raspberry leaves. I also give him olive leaf which is also kills the fungus along with regulating blood pressure, which has helped him get off his blood pressure pills. He already eats pretty healthy, except for his sweet tooth which is a typical craving for people affected with fungus/candida. Also, lowering fat intake with excersise combined with proper breathing can greatly reduce fungus which thrives in low oxygen environments. Alcoholic beverages are the worse! Have him stay away from alcohol at all cost!!! And yes, probiotics are also going to be something that he should be taking in the morning before food. If I get a mouth ulcer from acid system (Coffee drinking will make the system acid! I am not trying to make you feel bad. It’s just that coffee IS very acid forming, and candida will thrive in an acid system!) I used to drink a half gallon of butter milk! It works! Of course now that I am raw I do not get those because of the greens I am getting! Yahoooo! I hope this has helped! Those yellow nails are not only an eye sore, but they can actually be painful at times, and if he is a gardner, and works with the soil, he will also suffer from cracked and itchy skin. Let me know if this helps, or if I can do anything else for you, or your dad!

  • Anti-fungal herbs to be taken internally as tinctures, teas, capsules: Garlic (Kyolic liquid is a good aged garlic product), Pau D'Arco, Olive Leaf, Calendula, Black Walnut Hulls

Topical treatment for nails: Apply Neem Oil liberally throughout the day or at night. Wrap the area the keep the area saturated. You could also do a blend of Tea Tree Oil, Calendula Oil, Neem Oil, Black Walnut Hull Tincture.

The treatment is similar to an anti-Candida, anti-Parasitic treatment. No sugars at all (including all fruit) and an herbal regimen. Healthforce makes an excellent anti-parasitic formula, as well as other incredible cleansing products. I am doing one right now and looking forward to adding some of the products to my site soon.

Sending many Blessings for your dad's health and healing!!!

    Warmest wishes,

I have a lot less pain when walking, I have a painful bunion and plantar fasciitis, and these sneakers have made a significant difference in reducing that pain. and these shoes are comfortable! My feet may need a specialist, but I am happy with this purchase. I wear these to walk the dogs, exercise, or anytime nights and weekends. They look great and feel even better.

I buy a Groupon for laser treatment. It's not expensive (about $100 for two treatments) and it really works. A Laser is made of light, so that's natural enough for me.

I never know what to think of lasers. They're somewhere between awesome and terrifying. I'm staying undecided for now.
