Flaxseed Laxative

I read somewhere that eating 1 tablespoon of whole flaxseed and drinking a lot of water along with it is a really great laxative. I have no doubts in the results from this, being as almost every time I eat something containing flaxseed, it comes out pretty soon after! Anyway, I am wondering if anyone has tried this and how long it takes to work?

    Here in Italy flax is exclusively consumed as a laxative! Psyllium also works great, but be careful you take it with plenty of water. I accidentally added to much to a fruit pudding and didn’t drink any water with it – a couple hours later I had bad cramps. It absorbs loads of water. That’s probably more of a problem with psyllium than flax, but maybe not.
