mature coconuts

bittbitt Raw Newbie

I don’t see many raw recipes that use mature coconuts. Aside from the shreds, not sure why they aren’t used more. It is because they are hard to open? Sorry to be so clueless.

  • bitt, I have wondered that, too. They are so cheap right now in my area. I am wondering if they are okay to use, or if there is something odd about them.

  • First of all, mature coconut water sucks (to me anyway). Also, the meat is hard and can’t be blended or processed easily. Try dipping dehydrated coconut chunks (mature) in a cacao/agave/coconut oil mixture and put in the fridge until firm. delish!!

They are good to grate and dehydrate. Real raw shredded coconut!

I might be in the minority, but I think that the mature coconuts taste better.
