Soaking sunflower seeds -> cracking

Are sunflower seeds supposed to split in half (lengthwise) when soaked overnight? I would have thought that raw seeds would hold their shape so that they can eventually sprout… My seeds were supposedly raw…

    No one is able to give some insight? Should raw sunflower seeds be splitting if soaked overnight?
