I used to take fish oil to help lower cholesterol and it did have a lowering effect for me but you need to take a really good quality fish oil. For me, I found eliminating all animal products to be the most beneficial in lowering my cholesterol. The sea oil you are asking about...is it sea buckthorn oil?

     Don't know...

What brand(s) of fish oil are you looking at? Maybe we can figure it out.

     Claire,

Don't know the particular brand. Health benefits are enough...

Sea buckthorn oil is the only type of sea oil I am aware of. Here are a few articles I found on the benefits and cautions for sea buckthorn oil and fish oil. If you take a high quality pharmaceutical grade fish oil you will not get the repeating fish oil taste in your mouth which is very unpleasant. I hope these articles can help you determine what is right for you.

    Fish oil:

Lots of fish oils available on the market are probably not good for you for this reason: the company that produces it takes no responsibility for their product; as is the case with a lot of supplements out there. It is important to do research before deciding who to give your money to. The integrity of the product is Everything

I buy Carlson Norwegian Cod Liver Oil and I have seen tremendous improvements while using it. It is also flavored with lemon and so you will not experience any bad aftertaste or fishy burps. This oil is one of the higest purity oils available in health food markets and it is a little pricy -- 16oz can run for about $45-$50 at a store, but it is worth it, if you are serious about adding it to your nutritioal lifestyle.

You can buy this product on Vitacost for a bit of a discount -- it is arounr $36 for 16.4 oz bottle.

I hope this helps you on your path, cheers!
