How can you tell if nuts are raw?

When shopping for raw nuts I've noticed that some kinds of nuts say that they are raw (cashews, almonds, macadamia nuts) and some don't say raw, but they don't say roasted either (walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts). So I'm wondering how you can tell whether your buying raw nuts when the package doesn't clearly specify raw.

    im curious to this too - like when purchasing seeds if it says raw on the packaging then they are raw... but is there a for sure way to tell wether or not they are actually raw? thanks :)

    Soak and then try to sprout. If they sprout, they're raw. For soaking and sprouting information, check the threads. There are quite a few on these topics. You might also check out www.sproutpeople.com. They are experts on sprouting information.
