Trying raw due to food reactions!!

Hi all. I discovered this site recently looking for recipes I could make without wheat, dairy, soya and some other bits and pieces! I was diagnosed with various food intolerances after feeling tired, digestive problems and more.
So i’ve gone partly raw at the moment and I love it! I think living in the UK it’s going to be hard to do full time, not sure what I would have in a restaurant. Also going on holiday to India next week so not sure whats going to be about there raw food wise! Thinking of buying a dehydrator when I come back to try out the raw brown bread and lasagne. Looking forward to learning and finding out more.

  • Hi there! Good to hear from you, I’m glad i’m not the only person in Kent into this sort of thing! I’m about 50% raw too at the moment. Can you recommend any good cafe’s/restaurants in London? We have quite a good train service here so I go up quite a bit.

  • I know I shouldn’t complain really!! I guess I was comparing here to California! We are lucky enough to have a veggie cafe here in Folkestone and Canterbury has a great wholefood shop/cafe. I just wish more restaurants could offer raw or vegan options.

  • Well, I do live in California, Northern, and I have known about raw for 27 years before the internet, but most people here, are still using our SAD diet. Yes, the world is changing, which is wonderful to behold and so nice to have so many people that want to eat fresh raw foods. We also need so many more restaurants that cater to raw foodists, but the world is changing, even though many people have little knowledge or choices still. Raw organic, basic inexpensive food, grown on fertile soil should be the norm, but there are still major corporations that think money is all. Funny, I remember people saying quite a few years ago, that Prince Charles would never be king, partly because he had strange ideas about promoting organic foods,etc.

  • Welcome! I went raw because I have celiac disease (wheat/ anything with gluten) and I feel so much happier and healthier on raw. After I was diagnosed with celiac I tried the diet they put me on, but I didn’t enjoy it b/c I had to shop in the “special section” and read every single label on products and if the item didn’t say GF (gluten free) then I had to call the company… and yeh, not a lot of fun. Anyways, I quickly realized my favorite part of the store was the produce area and the rest is history- lol
