Sounds to me like you're retaining water. I have limited knowledge about raw food as well, and I can't imagine any way that could happen with raw food unless you're sensitive to salt and have been eating *a lot* of spinach.
Hopefully, someone else can help you a little better. This will at least get you listed on the home page.
Hmmm, all very interesting. I'm sure it's a combination of a lot of things and I think my increased exercise has probably helped change the shape of my body which would account for the tightness of the clothes in some areas. I remember after a few days of being 75-80% Raw Vegan, I noticed my skin felt very elastic, as if it were a soggy rubber-band that had snapped back into form. It must be a result of all the water I am getting now.
Thanks everyone!!
catbird- are you consuming any nuts/seeds? I tend to feel bloated when I eat nuts. Otherwise, I feel light as a feather especially when I drink fresh juice or smoothies!
Yeah, I am consuming a lot of seeds and nuts too (all raw/unsalted, of course). I am still trying to figure out which amounts of everything is best for my body (I'm waiting for it to tell me). I've been trying to balance my meals daily to equal 1/3 nuts & seeds, 1/3 fruits and 1/3 veggies. I use to be a big-time calorie counter, but have since stopped (you can imagine how scary caloric intake can seem at first with this diet rich in nuts.
It's a little frightening because I basically just have to have faith that my body will adapt and even itself out (cravings, water retention, etc.). I am wondering about how long it takes to gain some normalization. Anyone?
Hi Catbird. I can only tell you from experience. I noticed a slight bloatedness when I consumed a lot of nuts. And this was in the beginning of my raw days when I first got into it (going into 6 months now). I started making gourmet raw food with lots of raw cashews, pine nuts, and macademia. I consumed these nutty meals once every day. It sat heavy in my tummy and seemed harder to digest. So I cut down the nut intake and upped my fruit and greens by making tons of juices and smoothies and eating tons of fruits whenever I felt hungry. I did lose a lot of weight so I just picked up on snacking a handful of nuts throughout the day. Just listen to your body. If you feel like something is off, try something different. It seemed to work for me. Good luck :)
Thanks, Sheik! I'm going to try cutting back on the nuts for the next few days and see if it makes a difference. I'll let everyone know how it goes :)
