  • Yes, you can smell and taste the vinegar when dehydrating and in the chips. What kind of taste are you looking for? For marinating, there are several things you can use. Vinegar, lemons/limes, nama shoyu, olive oil. You could make a marinate out of …
  • Glad you enjoyed them. Everyone seems to have a taste for potatoe chips lately – we talking about them at a raw potluck last night. I don’t deserve any credit for this – The recipe is from Alissa Cohen’s Living on Live Food Book. :)
  • Not all the nightshade plants produce a fruit or berry – some are herb producing. But they are all flowering plants. So, there isn’t really a definatae way to to say this is a nightshade – you sort of need to know which ones are in the nightshade fa…

  • pianissima - I may not be 100% accurate on on this but it is my understanding that plant families are classified according to similiar rules that animals are. For example, we humans are mammals but we aren’t really like some other mammals at all – l…

  • Sounds like you might be sensitive to the cacao? It does have theobromine in it which can be a stimulant. MSM is supposed to help with achy muscles plus it speeds detox.

  • Ohmigod, you come home and your husband is CLEANING THE HOUSE? That IS a special day – well, it would be a special day in MY apartment! To come home and the bf is actually cleaning? Get out- that calls for a celebration!! :) :) I can dream – it woul…
  • ha ha! “holy mother of cracker..” :) Yeah, I have had the Happy day mousses too. I have had the vanilla and the chocolate. I ended up using them in smoothies more than just eating them – the chocolate worked very well. :)
  • Another idea is an cheese slicer if you have one – it can be hard on the wrist a bit but you can control the size of your slices. Other than that the vegetable peeler will be your best bet.
  • Samilicious – I think you would just make the Hemp Milk and go from there. Just make your raw ice cream like you would with almond milk. runnagurl’s Hemp Milk recipe looks good. The other thing I was going to say is to just make it like you would an…
  • OOO, its yummy. Maybe a bit of an acquired taste for some but add some agave and it is good. I had some at a place in SF called Judadilicious. They have the milk and the ice cream. Hemp is very nutritious too so if you can have some I say definatley…
  • If you are in the central cali, maybe you can balance out your icky mill tour with a trip to an organic almond farm to get some farm fresh raw unpasteurized almonds! :)
  • I use natural wax paper sprayed with olive oil in my dehydrator. I don’t even have any nonstick sheets. The only drawback to this is that you can’t reuse the wax paper. Just use a light coating of olive oil (or other raw oil of your choice)

  • I am not sure about helping with the estrogen stuff but hemp seeds I believe are also good for the omega-3’s. So might be a good alternative. Not to mention they have TONS of other things that are great for you. They are high in protein and are very…
  • I am not 100% about my info here but my bf explained baked bread like this. The reason it is bad for you isn’t really the grains but the temp used that turns the outside brown (the crust). Any baked food item that is baked enough to turns crust brow…
  • angie – I don’t remember David advocating drinking coffee – do you remember where you read or heard that? Maybe you are thinking of Juliano? He serves cold pressed coffee at his raw restaurant. Yeah, David is not a scientist.. BUT he does do tests o…

  • He he! No nothing wrong with the conspriacy people. :) I am not really one of them. David said something about the bee shortage and pasteurized almonds and nicotine – I can’t remember the whole thing but it sounded pretty out there (basically made n…

  • I have met David and seen him speak live. Yeah, he is very smart on the food part of everything. He is nice and he does seem sort of intense. People are always asking me “what should I eat for this and that?” and of course he has answers that boost …

  • When they send the supplements to you, they need to mark it as a “gift” on the customs form in order to allow it. At least, that is my understanding.
  • I use the Merry Hempsters stuff – it tastes a little weird but hemp oil is really moisturizing. Shea butter is very moisturizing too but I don’t know if it nice to use on your lips – it might not taste great.
  • Omshanti – he he! Your posts are so funny! I would love to build my own straw bale house someday. I love all those round corners and smooth earth ends. With solar and other alternative energies, you don’t have to worry about electricity and the comf…

  • I heard that David Wolfe is a pot smoker too. :) can’t confirm that rumor though. I know the Woody Harrelson has a movie about pot – it is called “Grass”. It is about hemp in general I think and the legalization of it. I think sometimes that I am th…
  • EnjoyRaw – Sure go ahead and try it. But in my experience, every rawie who has had one of those has complained that they can’t make certain things in them (like crackers) and the shape it makes the process a bit awkward. Even the fruit takes two day…
  • Yes, it is your dehydrator. Those round dehydrators really aren’t for the raw life style – they are for dehydrating little bits of fruit and veggies. You need a “real” dehydrator than you will know how good dehydrated stuff can be. :) Right now, I h…
  • I have no super great advice either. :) Right now, my bf and I can hardly pay our rent – and we are charging all our food to credit cards right now! One thing you might want to try but you careful doing it – is foraging. You would be surprised at wh…
  • What exactly are kelp noodles? I have seen people posting about them before. Are they just kelp made to look like noodles? I remember people saying they are crunchy> I am wondering if I can make them myself. By buying regular kelp and soaking and…
  • Hey kauaigirl! Haven’t you around much for a while – glad to see you back! ;) I actually do have my own theory on what you were posting about. Whether or not it there is any real scientific truth in it – I don’t know – I would have to do a study.:) …
