  • I’m so sorry to hear that :( I hope that you are doing ok? And on your birthday, that always makes it tough :( I’m sorry…

  • spiritedmama, You are not wrong. Originally she said she did 60% fruit, 40% greens, but now she has up-ed her greens to about 70% greens and 30% fruit because her body is more used to greens and she craves greens more than the sweetness of fruits. :…
  • Hi peachy_pie, Do a search for ode to green smoothies on google. Chewing greens does not break thru the cellulose wall of the cells of the greens, unless you chew them to liquid. Liquefying them does so you reap the amazing benefits. Victoria Bouten…
  • Would you offer a beer to an alcoholic? What is so taboo about a child wanting to eat fruit and vegetables? Why is that so “weird”? I have to laugh, a child in my daughter’s class eats hotdogs every single day. My daughter said, “sometimes she gives…
  • That does make it tough living so close to them, maybe you could bring along a bag with the snacks/fruit that you’d be ok with him eating if he asks for something to eat? Cut up an entire watermellon onto wedges so everybody can eat it :) Maybe you …
  • UGH :( Same here, one set of Grandparents doing the same childish, selfish, inconsiderate acts of unkindness when it comes to food, you are not alone :) I even had Dr.s orders once for her to have NO sugars…they gave her a large sprinkle doughnut fo…
  • I have to laugh, just did a demo last night showing 2 ways to open them last night :) The clever works better only because it’s heaviest, but any heavy knife will work (you can buy cheap ones $2 and less). As coconutty said, shave the top of the tee…

  • Don’t know about the question, but do know that pineapple juiced (HAVE to use the outside and inside core to get the large source of bromelain which should help with pain and inflammation, really helped me with my back injury) and also black cherrie…
  • I buy agave from Wholefoods when I’m in Florida for about $6.50 for the larger bottle, $4.50ish for the smaller bottle. Haven’t bought cacao yet, but can get it at the local health food store I believe, and we don’t live in a huge city.
  • I just cut up one today and for the first time read the small print on the label…do not refrigerate until cut. Store in a cool, dry place until cut then refrigerate…duh, I had mine in the fridge. I diced mine small with raw corn kernels, diced pears…

  • I bought some of those “green” bags that allow veggies and fruits to “breathe” correctly to prevent deteriorating quickly and do think that they are helping, so I’m going to put jicamas in one of those to slow down molding. I really like them, sort …

  • Our PBS was about birds, not brazil nuts and we’re on the East coast too…was yours definitely about brazil nuts?
  • Do you mean PBS? Thanks so much!
  • I don’t see an all-purpose vitamix container. I only see one for wet and one for dry ingredients, difference being the shape of the blades. The wet blades all come more to a point where the dry has 2 of them squared off.
  • Use a serrated knife (one that is specifically for scooping out grapefruit sections) to scrape out the coconut meat once it is broken open.

  • We have a kitchenaid food processor (white, about 14 years old and works and looks like brand new!) 12 cup with the smaller bowl also (which I LOVE!!!). We use the shredding and slicing blade as much as the blending/pureeing blade. It also has the “…
  • I might have to try Soyabella in the future :) In the Yaoh, I used the minimum amount of required water, I believe it is 4 cups, to their small measuring cup for nuts or seeds which basically is about 1/4 cup, and compared to 1 cup nuts to 2 cups wa…
  • TO MAKE RICHER MILK: If you want your milk to be richer, you can let your soy/nut/seed maker go thru all of it’s stages, then empty only the screened container (still keeping the milk in the large container, just empty the screen can of ground up so…
  • I put my wheat sprouts in one and they lasted a long time. I didn’t want to eat them after a few days but kept them in their just for curiousity’s sake and about 2 weeks into it, they still looked great! I know it says make sure there is no moisture…
  • I had developed itchy rashes around my face, dermatologist said it was dermatitis. Never had it before, and what she gave me was toxic so I ended up putting a pinch of sea salt in pure water in the palm of my hand, then added a little bit of raw hon…
  • According to the juiceman and other raw food and juicing books that we have, lemons and limes, whenever juiced thru a juicing machine, should be juiced whole, including the outside, pith and inside. The pithy part is where most of the valuable nutri…

  • Create-your-own recipes: You could have 10-15 containers of different items…different berries, coconuts, lemon juice, diced onions, lime juice, seeds, diced apples, zest of different fruits, etc. and allow the kids to create their own unique recipe/…
  • Thanks! :) I’ll get some parchment paper and try it out. I guess they changed the color of the unit, I should have bought it before when it was white…procrastination, procrastination, procrastination…
  • What color is the CABELA’S dehydrator on the outside? It looks white on the website but looked gray at the one Cabela’s we just visited. Is anybody’s Cabela’s dehydrators white or gray? Also, how do you like fruit leather trays? They don’t have edge…
  • Hellooooooo :) I was thinking of getting the 12 tray also only because it pulls 1200 watts vs 1600 watts…BUT now am concerned about the heat from it. So is it noisy or a fairly quiet fan? I have a L’Equip now, just wondering how loud it’d be compare…
  • writeeternity, did you get the 12 tray or the 24 tray?
  • Thanks for the update :) I don’t know what to do, I guess I could always return it if it didn’t work out aok. FYI, to keep moisture out of mason jars, put cotton balls in with your dehydrated foods :) I read that somewhere years ago and it works gre…
  • omshanti I had to write to tell you about a conversation my husband had with Cabellas today! He was calling them about a gift certificate and got into talking about the dehydrators…the person there told him that they BOTH, the 1/2 size and the full …
