  • Yes, that’s what I was looking for!! Thank you!
  • Zoe, what about the pulp and seeds? Do they all get washed out of the machine?

  • Zoe, how does your husband wash clothes with lemons?
in Soap Nuts Comment by RawVoice
  • They work fine for clothes that are not very soiled or stinky. Clothes come out nice and very natural smelling.I find that for the dirtier wash loads, soap nuts don’t cut it, and I tried adding borax and baking soda, too.

  • You can use just about any nut, almonds and cashews are especially tasty, IMO.

  • I can’t think of any detox symptoms that I had unless being cold is a detox symptom. Then again, I’ve been a raw foodist for quite some time, so I may not be that toxic. I’ve had slip ups though. There were days when I didn’t release anything even a…
  • This is a great thread! Has anyone mentioned dehydrating lemon and orange peels and grinding them for zest. I suppose you could also do that with lime and grapefruit.
  • I try to keep receipts for that reason. Avocados and young coconuts are items that are sometimes rotten. If you’re not too far from your store, and it would be worth it to go in, then I would return it. Otherwise, do you have a compost bin or somewh…
  • Zoe, can you post your donut whole recipe and bread recipe?
  • Thanks for the info. Some of it is very disappointing, but it is good to know.

  • I’ve gotten good results with Natural Zing’s MSM.
  • Why do soaked nuts and seeds turn more quickly? I guess the moisture content. I wonder if it’s better to soak and dehydrate nuts and seeds before using them.
  • Is this what you have? http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodi…:BC&Sp=S&N=0&whse=BC&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=Text_Search&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=4000000&D=foodsaver&Ntt=foodsaver&No=0&Ntx=mode+ma…
  • Thanks for info, Jim. Although, back to my original question. I’m just not sure if I made tahini myself, if it would last 9 monhts. In fact, if I had sesame seeds for 9 months, I’d question whether or not they were still good. The sesame seeds are o…
  • mango woman, the tahini container doesn’t say if the date is the sell by date or the expiration date. It just says “certified organic” and then gives a date.
  • I believe David Wolfe sells raw olives.
  • I mean truly raw foods. For instance, today I bought a jar of Rejuvenative Tahini. The expiration date is 8-27-08. If I made my own tahini today, would it last until 8-27-08? P.S. Goldmine organics also makes raw sauerkraut.
  • Goji berries are funny things. I didn’t like them at first either. But they grew on me, too.

  • Some people say that tea makes the body acidic, but I’m not worried about it. I drink it, not everyday, but when I feel like it.

  • They’ll just be moister if you soak them. You could do it either way. They are setting the dehydrator temp at 145 which is cooking the food. I’d set it at no higher than 118. I usually dehydrate at 105. Consequently, the recipe will take even longer…
  • I’m so glad I stumbled upon this thread. Thank you for posting Socal. I’ve passed it on to many, many people.
  • To choose a good watermelon, look for a pronounced yellow/white area on the watermelon. That’s where it layed on the ground when it was growing. I can’t remember why, but it’s important that it be very noticeable. I think it’s an indication of ripen…
  • Oh those both look so good. Thank you!
  • Thanks for the feedback everyone. It’s peaked my interest even further. I guess the premise is pretty simple, and I don’t believe that raw gormet is always good for you, especially too much oil. I’m not sure why he thinks that spices aren’t a good t…

  • I first became a vegan, and that was for ethical reasons. I was bothered by the cruel conditions in factory farming. Later, I discovered raw foods, and I embraced that for health reasons.
  • RawJim, yes, I overprocessed them once. It was messy. I had to use paper towels to soak up the oil.
  • No, I don’t believe so.
  • Laurajean, Costco usually sells a huge container of medjool dates for only about $6 (or maybe it was less, I’m not sure.) There are probably at least 50 dates in each container. They’ll get them again, but right now they only have deglet noor.
  • Chef, yes, that was extremely helpful. The deglets are smaller than the medjools, so I’ll adjust the quanitity, and I appreciate the suggestion of adding a spice to add depth. Good stuff. I appreciate it!
  • Thanks, KristensRaw, I got deglet noor by Hadley Farms. Costco didn’t have the medjools I bought last time. I need so many for all the brownies I’m making, I wanted to buy in quantity.
