  • If people ask me about my diet, it’s usually with curiosity. I don’t bring up how eating raw is better than cooked—that makes folks feel attacked. I just say it makes me feel great and it’s what makes my body happiest. Another thing I’ve found is th…
  • I use Dr. Hauschka oils, but you can use coconut oil on your face and under your eyes for moisturizer. :)
  • Kandace, maybe we can call it Gone Rawcipes. :)

  • It’s about 33, jkd. 0 grams of fat. I’d suggest using raw agave or raw honey. I make my smoothies with kale and pineapple or kale and mango, nothing else, most of the time. It’s superb. I’d increase your nuts and oils if you want more calories. Also…

  • Also, even though you don’t like raw tomatoes on their own, try making a salad of tomato, cilantro, avocado, lime, sea salt and cucumbers. It’s delicious, especially on hot days. There’s also a great recipe for raw tomato soup if you want it!

  • Even walnuts cut with some pine nuts might work. :)
  • Flinzz, Thailand? You lucky duck!!! I’d love to hear about it. SS isn’t too far from Columbia, so we’ll have to start doing MD potlucks. Have a safe trip home!

  • Shannonmarie, I went to Northern, too! When did you graduate? Germin8, I think Matt Monarch is going to speak at Loving Life Cafe, too. I’m going to be out of town for both lectures, darnit.

  • Shannonmarie, yep, I grew up in Dunkirk. Where’d you go to high school? And germin8, what goes on in Spencerville, MD? Flinzz78, where in Silver Spring are you?

  • Sonne, I live in Ellicott City, so I’m not too far from the place at all. See you there! Shannonmarie, where in So. MD do you live? I grew up in Calvert County. :) The e-mail I got from them indicated an event in July but didn’t elaborate… The other…

  • Shannonmarie, I believe there’s another potluck in July. Click on the link for the Natural Zing website above and it’ll give you a list of events. :) Where in MD are you? We’re trying to get local potlucks together. V

  • I think that instead of worrying about the “pound” of greens, just focus on the raw. The great thing about eating raw is that once your body adjusts to being healthy, it will tell you exactly what you need. You can get incredible amounts of nutrient…
  • Linda in the Raw, First off, I love your avatar! Gorgeous representation of the chakras. :) I have three herniated discs in my lower back, so I literally feel your pain, lady. My chiro has been a life saver. But in the meantime, I highly suggest Arn…

  • Yep, you can definitely get raw wild rice and sprout it just as you would sprouts. Try Living Tree to buy it… http://www.livingtreecommunity.com/store2/produ…
  • So Gone Raw will be…gone? Sorry. I’m punchy. :) Congrats on the move, and thanks again for this GREAT site!!!
  • Cashews are not nuts, it’s true, but they are seeds. Seeds contain the same inhibitors and need to be soaked. David Wolfe sells “truly raw” cashews on his site; they are hand opened, I believe. Cashews do need to be soaked in order to make them more…
  • Xbillyx, Are you soaking them before you eat them? A lot of nuts have enzyme inhibitors and soaking them makes digestion much easier. If you want them to be dry, you can soak and then put in the dehydrator. :)
  • jkd, here’s some great info I found for you about the various Superfoods that offer so much nutrition, including our B vitamins. Here’s the original link: http://www.relfe.com/superfood.html Spirulina Blue Green Algae Spirulina is one of about 1,500…

  • Rawmama, Keep your chin up. I had the same thing pop up, along with some other skin rashes, and all of it’s gone now, thanks to raw. I used to have the same prob with tartar control toothpaste (how long have you been off it?). In the meantime, try p…
  • Jenergy, I personally have found there’s a huge difference in “almost raw” and “all raw.” Even eating 90% can drag out detox symptoms for a longer period than you’d experience eating 100% raw. I went through a lousy detox, too—lethargy, rash, headac…
  • Natural Zing has truly raw cashews, and the price is really reasonable! I think they have truly raw Brazils, too. :)
  • I think Tim Robbins is the actor who lives with Susan Sarandon. ;) Tom Robbins is the writer. (Sorry, I’m a writer geek and I love him too!) Jitterbug Perfume is one of my favorite books. Try “Another Roadside Attraction—” it’s fantastic. Writeetern…
  • QueenFluff, I’m so sorry I haven’t answered your e-mail!! I wanted to sit down and give it the attention it deserves, but I’ve been on crazy deadlines all week and haven’t had time. If you have the Pvers, it’s more than likely not detoxing, but just…
  • Queenfluff, If you want to send me an e-mail, too, we can continue this off the board if you like. I had MAJOR problems with Candida (and by that I mean systemic, not yeast infections alone), and have found that eating 100% raw eliminated all of my …
  • QF, Yes, usually Candida is present when you have the shifting clouds rash. Everyone has yeast in their systems. It’s when the good flora gets out of balance that it becomes a problem. Try taking a probiotic every morning before you eat, stay away f…
  • Queenfluff, Glad I could help. I’d advise against shea butter and olive oil. What the rash needs is to be drawn out. It tends to occur when people have yeast inside their bods (I’ve had Pity Vers quite a few times in my life). I know you want to sta…
  • Queenfluff; Could be what’s called “shifting clouds,” or Pityriasis versicolor. The interesting solution is using a dandruff shampoo like Selsun blue. Just apply it to the affected area twice a day and let it dry. A lot of the strains of this affect…
  • All good points, writeeternity, but I think we were all answering from a point of experience with detox after going all raw. When you’re eating a SAD diet, your body is a LOT more depleted and deficient of the minerals and vitamins it needs. So when…

  • Sounds like detox to me, devittles. As our bodies clean themselves from the inside out, it shows up in all kinds of ways—excess mucous, sweating, body odor, rashes, you name it. Remember, the skin is our largest organ, and impurities are pushed out …

  • Have you tried just mixing flax seeds and sea salt and a little water? The “glue” of the flax tends to bind really well. Also, if you try a higher heat at first (say, 120 degrees) and then reduce after a few hours, it may give you a crisper cracker.
