  • If it is a fungus, I would try getting rid of your current razor. Also, you could try using tea tree oil on the areas, as it is an excellent anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, etc. I don’t shave so I am not as much help as I could be I guess.
  • Chris and Zoe have some good info. on their raw site regarding B12- purelyraw.com. For me, I just take one little B12 tablet once a week. There is also a string on the forums here that says that in one of the raw books it states you can get B12 from…

  • Well put RawVee. I think the difference between detox symptoms and vit./min. def’s is that with detox, the symptoms quickly go away after the toxins have left the body. With vit/min def’s, the symptoms persist and/or get worse.

  • Welcome Jennyleightully! First, congratulations for choosing raw, your body will thank you for it! As far as help goes, in my opinion, this has been THE most helpful site on the web to get support, answer questions, etc. I am on here a couple times …
  • Because I don’t trust the temp on food dehydrator, I never put it any higher than 105 degrees just to make sure that it won’t go over the ‘raw point’ and kill my food.
  • Welcome! I have hypothyroid too. I have been following raw for almost a year now, but just recently getting close to and/or acheiving 100%. I have had a few slips, but get back on track pretty quick. I have lost around 30 pounds or so thus far. If y…
  • If you are worried about eating too much at one time, you may want to try eating mini meals. Instead of 3 large meals, I eat 6 small meals throughout the day, about 3 hours apart.

  • As far as making sure something is raw, if I have a question about it, specifically nuts, seeds, grains, etc., I buy a very small amount and try and sprout it. If it sprouts, it’s raw. If it doesn’t, at least I didn’t buy a whole bunch and waste my …
  • I use a coffee grinder to grind my flax seeds, sesame seeds, etc. I gets them very fine. Did you use a coffee grinder or something else?
  • I personally stay away from anything soy as it has been linked to many diseases. If you would like more info., I have a website www.taoistlife.com that has pages of studies on soy. Alot of the danger has to lie with the lack of preparation time by m…
  • Fairy Toes, I highly recommend that you visit thegardendiet.com Storm is in his late 50s, early 60s. He has been raw for I think about 30 years or so. He has an amazing website with lots of info., and e-books you can purchase as well. They are very …
  • Electra, There are many people on this forum with differing views on this topic. For me, I see nothing wrong with having an avo. everyday. Other will say that too much nuts, seeds, oils, and avos are not healthy for you based on the 80-10-10 diet. I…
  • Sure glad I won’t let my son buy school lunches!
  • That is horrible! I can’t believe someone would think to try and flavor an apple to taste like a grape…why not just eat grapes?!
  • Oh my gosh, I actually might be in the area then, how exciting! I will have to see if I can leave a few days earlier than planned for WA. Yeah!
  • Thanks Rawmama….Wow, it makes me miss WA soooo much! They didn’t have this when we lived there 2 years ago. I really wish they had something like this here in Flagstaff, AZ. I see stuff for Sedona, which admittedly is not that far away, but with a l…
  • The link doesn’t seem to be working….
  • Thanks SocaL, I will be looking in to this for my mom who will be visiting for a month and has said she will try raw while she is visiting! She has type 2 diabetes and I am hoping I can show her that raw can help.
  • writeeternity, Thank you for your concern….I actually work very closely with a naturopath who monitors me every step of the way. I do get regular blood tests, but for me, the real litmus test is how I feel and what I see in the mirror, because for y…
  • cskinner, I was taking armour thyroid and/or thyrolar for a few years before going to just kelp. I did alot of research and got the o.k. from my naturopath. I started out taking almost 800 mg and then decreased it to 500-600mg after about a year, al…
  • I have almost completely cured my hypothyroid by going raw. This upcoming week I will be trying to only put spirulina in my green smoothies to see if I can maintain thyroid health with the spirulina alone instead of taking the kelp suplement I have …
  • Welcome Faerysparks! My husband has just given the o.k. to take our whole family raw, so I share in your excitement! Also, I have a 3 year old daughter who is mostly raw, but a 13 year old son who is fighting me tooth and nail, I think it is the pub…
  • You can use it to make the raw bacon recipe on this website. It is basically marinated egg plant. I don’t like the taste of Ume that much either, but I LOVE the raw bacon.
  • I looked at blindguru last night too. I had the same thoughts Zoe….I wasted an hour trying to figure out why someone who says they are a raw foodist was saying that raw food was bad. I got about 3 pages into it, got bored, and went and made raw cook…
  • Thanks spirit, I am! I don’t think there could be a more positive place to spend my time than on “my island”! My kids have ample places to run and explore on the beaches, there is a skate park for my son (skateboard officianado!), and TONS of positi…
  • Boy, I have been away a while….I will have to check out this blind guru site! I am staying with my parent’s right now for a “home vacation”...I grew up on an amazing little island in WA state that is a thriving alternative/artist community. So, inte…
  • Great Advice Rawmama! My mom is diabetic and she will be staying with us for a little over a month this summer. She has already told me she is willing to try raw while she is here and I am determined to show her that eating properly will make all th…
  • writeeternity, If you google msg you will find a TON of info. on msg reactions. Specificallyf or nutritional yeast, in the body it breaks down to the glutamate molecule which creates the negative reaction in many people, myself included, that are se…
  • Good info. writeeternity. I do caution you against nutritional yeast (though controversial in the raw food arena anyway…) due to the MSG reaction that can be associated with it. MSG is a neurotoxin and can be dangerous even in it’s more “natural” fo…
