  • I brought this up with my partner recently because as raw foodies we can consume all these international superfoods that are being shipped from Tibet and so forth. Are we adding to the carbon footprint eating some of these far off exotic foods and s…
  • Eating this way will bring emotional issues to the fore related to food. Once you’re raw, these issues might manifest themselves in your new diet ie infatuation to do with food and eating or thinking about it all the time. I think this is just part …
  • I had a delicious smoothie this morning using about a cup of pineapple, 1 banana, 1/2 tsp spirulina, 1 handful spinach, 1 handful parsley, a few nettles, pinch sea salt. One of the best I’ve had in a while.

  • Some people use a low oven or the tops of their radiators to sit the food on. Also, processing veggies and then just warming them through in a pot over a low heat can be done.
  • Well, I’m on the fence with this fruit eating approach. If you’re constantly eating to try and get the so called recommended intake, you could try making smoothies instead of just eating the fruit on its own. Also, greens are really important especi…
  • Oh, definately a nice fruit pie with a crust made of crushed macademias and dates. Blend mango and banana and put on top and then decorate with seasonal fruit, fresh or dried.
  • We got the 9 tray and I’m really glad we did. I think it’s far more economical to put it on and do a large batch of food at once, say crackers.

  • The stalks can be very bitter, I usually don’t put them in a blend as it can spoil the flavour.
  • First of all Aziah, 30 days is just the beginning. I was totally exhausted the first 3 months after going raw as the body detoxed. Smoothies are very filling, you might want to try something there. A good salad with the kind of fats you describe is …
  • I think it’s really about finding a healthy raw diet through experimentation. We are all so unique and what works for one, doesn’t for another. We have access to some of the best food on the planet and just have to refine our own personal diet to su…
  • Dr D doesn’t believe in the part the environment has to play on our bodies. In other words, eskimos should be able to follow 80/10/10!! I do however think it’s healthy to keep a fairly low fat intake even if it’s raw.

  • Super, it makes such a difference to have the tools for raw.

  • You might enjoy zucchini grated and then put through a creamy pine nut dressing, make some raw flatbread to go with it.

  • We grow alfalfa and rinse it with water that has a little sea salt added. This way the sprouts soak up all the minerals that are assimilable when you eat them. www.rawlifestyle.co.uk
  • I used to have that problem. Now I use carob and lucuma for sweetening and just a touch of dark agave if needed.
  • Hello Beanmonkee and welcome to goneraw. There are quite a few Glasgwegians now doing raw. I recently ran a raw food workshop in Grassroots, Woodlands Road and we had 7 keen people. Here is the link to the scottish group I started on GITMR RawInScot…

  • Buckwheat can spoil quickly. Your bread basically fermented in the long slow heat. That’s why I tend to use quicker drying times.

  • Bilberries are very good for improving eyesight and not watching too much tv or overdoing pc work. Take eye breaks to just move them around and do palming. Rub your hands vigorously together and then place over the eyes. Nice.

  • First off, my partner and I eat totally differently raw food but if you want to make something for both of you, I would probably find out what kind of raw dishes he would find appealing and provide a nice kind of buffet with a good variety of foods.…
  • Hi there, I think it’s to do with how they are processed, there is some heating involved with makes them not raw. However, I live in Scotland where oats are a traditional food and occasionally I enjoy putting a little ground oat groats into a recipe…

  • I take a supplement for peace of mind and my partner doesn’t weed out the creepy crawlies that end up in his smoothie!

  • I would go for quick and easy food like large salads with good seed dressings. Also, processing some veggies, adding seasoning and then warming up in a pot is good with a sauce to go over it.
  • Excellent, you might enjoy reading about the Boutenko family for encouragement. It’s great your sons are making the choice to go raw too. Enjoy the ride and I wish you joy. www.rawlifestyle.co.uk

  • okay, this morning I made waffles by blending 1 pear, 2 bananas and then used some soaked prunes and apricots I had in the fridge to thicken the puree. Then I put the puree into a bowl and stirred in ground flax (a good cup or two) to make a thick b…

  • Sure, blend an apple and 1/2 cup dates into a fruit puree, Put into a bowl and add in ground flax seed until you have a dough. Flatten out into squares like waffles and dry until you’re happy with the texture. Use apricot puree as a jam.

in pickling ginger Comment by sweetpea
  • Hi Liz, pickled ginger is quite potent so you may just be noticing the natural result. You could play around with the quantity of acv to water in the jar. I usually use about a 1/3 acv and then the rest is water.
