  • Sun is great for vitamin D if you live where you can get enough sun year-round. Colorado & north, the sun is not strong enough to give us the vitamin D in the late fall, winter, and early spring. I’m always low on it long before the next summer.…
  • I agree with eating before you go – someone once suggested to me that I could bring raw crackers or fruit in my purse & eat them in the bathroom so no one notices. I haven’t tried it yet, but the option is there…
  • sun-dried tomato alfredo sauce (make sure it contains some lemon juice and sea salt) – let them sit in it a while until they’re about halfway to as soft as they can get, and I slurp ‘em up like crazy!
  • Sounds good! :)

  • I thought the only way around the pasteurization law is to buy them locally from a farm, and it is not legal for the farms to ship them. If you’re buying and then re-selling them, that makes you a handler and subject to the pasteurization laws – unl…
  • pulse – I understand that eating the whole grass would be taxing on the system because it’s too hard for our bodies to break it down, but why do you say that grain & grain grasses (juiced) will wear down a person’s system?
  • Interesting – we can skew “scientific results” to show all kinds of things now, can’t we?
  • “The Wheatgrass Book” tells about some of the scientific research Ann Wigmore did or had others do for her.
  • We don’t currently have access to foods that are anywhere as nutritious as they used to be, because of depleted soils, etc. We may not have been designed to eat grass, but juicing extracts the nutrition from the cell walls and makes it available to …
  • My opinion/experience is that if you focus on being healthy, your body will naturally adjust to its healthy weight. I lost 40 pounds when I needed to, and I gained 25 pounds back when I needed to after being really sick – both happened as I focused …
  • geespeen – organic has to do with the way the food is grown, and has nothing to do with whether it’s heated. So the cashews probably are organic. A couple of FYI items: In the nut business, “raw” nuts are nuts that have not been roasted. So even if …
  • I am always pointing out non-raw things in the raw section of my local health food store, and sometimes they even tell me I’m wrong, until I kindly point to the words “lightly roasted” on the back of the package or something. :) They might think I’m…
  • We made good dense bread with sprouted wheat & barley: Superman’s Pretzels 1 cup wheat 1 cup barley Soak grains 12 hours, rinse & let sprout for 12 to 24 hours, rinsing twice a day. Rinse again just before using. Run grains through Omega or …
  • cavsman – Maybe there was something you needed from the avocado but it was too big of an amount all at once? Or maybe a little of it on a salad would have been a better way to eat it? Or, sometimes, I think our bodies need certain nutrients and we c…

  • Intolerance to fats can be a symptom of a choline deficiency – choline is in foods like grain, egg yolks, legumes, lecithin, beef, pork, poultry & leafy green vegetables. Other deficiency symptoms of choline can include growth problems, heart tr…

  • I agree – my family members used to stress a lot over what to plan that I would eat, until I finally told them not to worry about feeding me; I would bring my own food & they didn’t need to worry about it any more. I have had two great experienc…
  • That cheese calls for olive oil, but maybe you could make it without the oil? You can blend fresh tomatoes with a little sea salt for a dressing (my son’s recipe, “Superhero Dressing!” – the oil is optional). You could also soak the sunflower seeds …
  • I love and live on MUCH more than an avocado a day! I would die or at least feel miserable trying to eat lowfat salads & green smoothies all the time. I love my greens, but I often eat salads with avocado and/or an oily dressing and/or hemp seed…

  • That’s a great aspiration, but how/why is it going to be “total” if all the other ones are supposed to be THE way to live/eat and they all contradict each other? I am really trying to help, I promise. What worked for me is to pay attention to my bod…
  • I think the “proper ratio” isn’t the same for everyone all the time, and that’s why there’s so much controversy about it. Different things work for different people, and different things work for the same person at different times. Sometimes I feel …
  • Young coconut water is a great raw source of electrolytes, and I have a friend who loves to eat an avocado after her weightlifting sessions. You could add sea salt to the avocado, too. Other than that, the book “Thrive” is written by a raw triathlet…
  • To those who think a raw diet always and only causes weight loss: I was thin most of my life – too thin, until high school. I took a weight training class and gained about 40 pounds in less than a year. I didn’t keep up with it after that. In the fo…
  • I would say I’m sorry, and I DO sympathize, but it sounds like you’re finding out what works for you (by finding out what doesn’t), and that’s always a positive thing – even when it seems to be temporarily negative.
  • The name of the thread is “salt…”
  • Someone just started another thread talking about having brighter eyes since taking salt water (and needing less sleep now). Maybe you’re missing sodium (& maybe trace minerals) that raw salt would provide?
  • Interesting…

  • I think the homogenizer is just to blend it together into dough – smoother than using a food processor.Try it in the Vita-mix, though. That would probably work; just be careful it doesn’t get too hot.
  • Wah :( I have been wanting a lentil burger recipe for a LONG TIME! Does anyone know of a good one?
  • I’m happy to know about these!
  • So, will these almonds sprout? and are they organic or not?
