  • What issues do you have with blood glucose levels?

  • Yes, all posts are welcome – including bitt’s :) bitt – Thank you for keeping me from going back – I am finally transitioning to 100% raw vegan because it is really the best for my body now. Talking about what people still crave, that’s not good for…
  • Silicon! Cucumber skin has it – it is also in flaxseed, whole grains, almonds, sunflower seeds, celery, apples, strawberries, grapes, kelp, beets, onions & parsnips. Zoe – I don’t get the thing about wheat (since whole grains have silicon, too),…
  • Ooh! Good to know – thanks!

  • It’s all good – I guess the reason people are concerned (at least me) is that bananas have been a cheap source of calories for so long. I could live without them & still have a great vaiety of taste & nutrition :) But, yeah, I guess it’s goo…

  • I thought plantains were more starchy, like a potato – and that people just use them cooked? There is a store that sells those. I saw finger bananas (I guess – they were smaller than regular bananas) once somewhere, but they were pretty expensive!

  • But where do we get the other varieties, since that variety is the ONLY one I ever see in the stores?

  • banana shortage, rice shortage, wheat shortage…Buying local & growing my own food appeals to me more all the time :)

  • I have type 1 diabetes, and eating all the fruit, agave, etc. that I want, my blood sugar levels are normal with only 1/3 the amount of insulin that I need when getting the same amount of carbs but eating cooked rice & veggies – I guess it goes …
  • I eat “dessert” all the time! I had someone once say something about my eating pie for lunch, and I told her that she wouldn’t say anything if I ate a bowl of fruit & nuts, so why should it matter if I blend it up and call it a shake or a pie, e…
  • Hi! This site can definitely be a good place to learn – I’ve learned a ton & received a lot of support from others here. Funny about the “potholes” but don’t worry too much about all that. For raw nuts: hazelnuts, pinenuts, & walnuts are rea…
  • Woohoo!
  • Chris & Zoe, you guys ARE inspiring to people! One of the reasons I have been successful at high raw the last few years is because I read “Raw Family” & Victoria Boutenko said they allowed themselves any amounts & combinations of food, a…

  • Green leafies are the most alkalizing (also green algae, spirulina, etc.). To balance, if you eat lots of alkalizing foods, try adding/increasing acid-forming foods, like grains, seeds, nuts (almonds are alkalizing, though), lentils, bananas, avocad…

  • Vaseline is petroleum – better to use coconut oil on lips/skin in general. Mangoes & pineapple do it to me, too (but no blistering) – I always rinse off my mouth right after eating them & that usually does the trick in preventing it.

  • Are you drinking lots of water? Eating enough good fats? Electrolytes from celery, young coconuts, nuts, etc.? Bananas have potassium, and it needs to be balanced with the right amount of sodium, so celery or celery juice can help if that’s the prob…

  • bee pollen has the usable form. I have heard the conflict, too, but I’m not an expert.
  • Thanks for asking for me :)
  • I get bee pollen from the health food store, but the pharmacy sections of some grocery stores carry it, too.
  • Yay, someone already did a good part of the work for me – thanks, anngoingraw! Welcome, Jason! Hemp seeds have the ideal omega3 to omega6 ratio, and a 2 Tablespoon serving of hempseeds supplies 1,000 mg of omega3s. From what I remember, The China St…
  • I also eat what gives me the most nutrients, most efficiently, or what my body wants most. Some cooked things have more of certain nutrients than any raw food source, so I might eat, say, Edamame for choline because I would have to eat 10 times as m…

  • I think I have three answers (at least), and maybe others at different times: 5 – When I was super sick, just out of the hospital, I chose to eat Manna bread because I was missing grains and didn’t have the energy/time to make my own raw sprouted br…
  • What if you didn’t have to tell your family that you’re a “raw foodist”? Just eat your fruits & veggies, & let them see how you feel. Most people know that eating fresh fruit & vegetables is healthy, anyhow. Having snacks & easy food…
  • green juices get more nutrients into the cells more quickly when they don’t have to ride throught the digestive system with the fiber. Greens are very alkalizing and give the body more of what it really needs so it doesn’t crave the addictive substa…
  • You’re welcome! It’s fun (or interesting, anyway) for me to learn about how different things affect me for better or worse! I’ll be thinking of you :) Green juices may help…
  • Caffeine is one of the main causes/contributors to a lot of depression (refined sugar is another)! Giving that up could make a big difference all on its own…
  • I can’t eat like that every morning, but YEAH! It was good today – and it lasted me 6 hours! (The longest I usually go is 2 or 3 hours before I’m starving again:)
  • I have been high raw for exactly 3 years yesterday! Yeah, for me, healthy fats are a main food. I hardly ate greens until this February – before that I maybe ate the equivalent of one bunch of greens per week, and now I eat one to five bunches per d…
