  • amysue – funny you should ask about the shake – I made him one this morning for breakfast! It wasn’t sweet enough because I am not eating fruit and so couldn’t taste-test it, but he drank it anyway. Another amazing thing about my dad’s decisions rig…
  • Winona – your comment just showed up. Lemonade is a great idea! I have made some good fruit syrups with just berries and agave in the blender – great idea on the waffles. I haven’t told him to stop eating meat, but he knows because I talk to my son …
  • Yeah, my mom is funny – she complains about my dad and my son not eating healthy, and then she turns up her nose at the raw soup I made for dinner. I made some little apple pies that my dad could take with him, and my son asked if he could have one …
  • Thanks! I don’t eat raisins, but I am not going to eat these brownies anyhow., Because of the plan I am on, I will not be eating any fruit for at least 3 months. So even though other people around me are starting to eat raw, I am still separate from…
  • ardesmond2 – Thanks for the ideas. Do you have a recipe for raw brownies? The ones I have tried to make on my own aren’t very good. I told him for now to quit eating chips and drinking soda, and my goal is to fill him up with the good stuff so he wo…
  • Cool! My son loves it when I get crazy like that, and we haven’t done it in a while – Thanks!

  • Not a bad idea to test it out and see how you feel, just like anything else. I agree with whoever said that we get a lot of nutrients from foods, even if they aren’t perfect. I have been thinking about this a lot lately, because a lot of foods are n…
  • I love it! Sometimes it doesn’t appeal to me, and then I don’t use it. But I did once get over a horrible respiratory infection (which I usually have for months) by eating 10 cloves of garlic crushed up with olive oil on my kelp noodles! I don’t rec…
  • If I had known about straining things from the Vita-Mix, and how long it takes to run stuff through my juicer, and how many other things the Vita-Mix does, I would have bought the Vita-Mix instead of my juicer (even though it’s a nice juicer). As it…
  • There is a topic on here somewhere called “Kitchen Staples” about lists of foods to start out with when going raw.
  • For detox, green juices (the more the better) are a good way to ease the transition with less severe detox reactions, and enemas (warm water) or colonics help the cleansing process. I also like kale salads (shredded kale squished up with avocado, le…
  • Oops, www.realrawfood.com – I typed it wrong before; I’ll go edit it.
  • Okay, I just saw a different post from Luna blu, and she just ordered from www.realrawfood.com and says all their stuff is genuinely raw. She loved it all.
  • www.realrawfood.com says theirs are all unpasteurized, and www.nutsonline.com has ORGANIC almonds that say they are not pasteurized, but the non-organic almonds are pasteurized, and the other nuts don’t say, but I think this is the site Luna blu tal…
  • Oh, okay – sorry :)

  • Okay, rawclaire, how old are you really? You seem to get younger every time you post something. ;)

  • The book Raw Family by Victoria Boutenko is about her family’s change to raw foods, due to her children’s health problems, which all went away and as a family they had the strength to hike the Pacific Crest Trail (San Diego to the Canadian border) a…

  • I would definitely agree that 50% minimum raw is great for your kids, but DO get education. I knew of a lady where I live who had her kids on 100% raw, and I would hear her say who needs more protein than what’s in a peach? and things like that. Lat…

  • I became willing to eat just what my body wanted, and I have done a otof emotional work along the way, too. What I have eaten has varied & changed a lot over the last almost three years. I use less insulin when I listen to my body & eat the …
  • The original book is “Eat Right For Your Type”. I had to mostly follow this diet when I was not eating raw. I am type A, and the longer I have eaten raw, the less I have to follow the blood type diet. Dr. Cousens says that there is evidence that typ…
  • The book I started with I don’t use much any more, but the important thing is to start, and like lzhpt said, it will come to you. I feel best when I go to the store, buy what appeals to me most, and then make something out of it. That way, I know I …
  • Another thing I do is talk to my food & supplements – like I just started taking the herb gymnema, which is to help regenerate the beta cells of the pancreas. So when I was going to take it yesterday, I said “Grow me some new beta cells, baby!” …
  • I have one – it’ll take some explaining, but here goes: The saying, which I remembered yesterday, is “take the bitter ‘til you find the sweet.” I am looking to cure/reverse type 1 diabetes. Emotionally, diabetes has to do with feeling like there is …
  • There was the thing with spinach a year or so ago, but they figured out it was probably due to being contaminated by cow manure, since there were cows nearby & the manure had e coli in it.
  • Their “raw” nuts are just like everywhere else – raw just means not roasted. Their raw almonds say they are pasteurized, but the organic almonds are not. www.reallyrawfood.com says all their nuts are “really raw” – I heard they started their busines…

  • Sweet almond oil, rubbed into my skin, seems to be helping quite a bit. I couldn’t stand to eat more than 1 or 2 avocados per day, so I decided that wasn’t going to be the main solution this time! :P
  • I can’t eat enough avocados to do the trick right now – only about 1 a day, and I am getting the little cuts now. I just put some olive oil on my hands, and I think I’ll make something with a lot of flax and see if that works.
  • Katy – My fingers are wrinkly/indented, too, like you describe! I kept thinking I must be severely dehydrated, so I started drinking a ton of water this weekend, but yesterday it was making me sick trying to drink water! Last night after I posted ab…
  • p.s. I had the same thing with coconut oil that you described – helped a little, for a little. It almost seemed like when I used coconut oil it was worse afterward.
  • It sounds EXACTLY like the problem I had once. I tried everything, & people would tell me I was dehydrated, or put coconut oil on it, but I felt the same – I want to fix it from the inside. I found the answer by accident. I found avocados on sal…
