  • For me, it works well to have things around that are easy to grab when I come home, and then I have the patience & clarity of thought to make something else. A lot of times, I eat a meal and then make something else for later or the next day.
  • The dates are also good halved, filled with almond butter & then a fresh raspberry on top! I had some my friend made for a raw potluck & then I made them for friends for Christmas treats.
  • Greens, avocados, olives, nuts/seeds, bananas
  • cayenne if you don’t have/want jalapeno. Serving it on top of greens sounds good. The spinach probably “dilutes” the flavor a lot. You could try making a big salad using cilantro along with the lettuce and then use your guacamole on top instead of d…
  • I should have clarified – the only ones I do three times are tiny ones – alfalfa & quinoa. Also, maybe you could rinse before you leave, when you get home, & again before you go to bed, or justsee how it works doing it twice. If they don’t g…

  • adzuki beans need to be soaked longer – 24 hours. General rule is the bigger the seed/bean, the longer it needs to be soaked, but I don’t know of anything needing more than 24 hours. Lentils only about 6 – 8 hours, & alfalfa seeds I soak around …

  • Normal room temperature is fine, and you should keep the sprouts out of the light unless it is alfalfa or something which you uncover after the first few days to let the tops get green. Most other sprouts are gross when they start to turn green – th…

  • Kandace – thanks for the idea of a nori wrap; I just made one :) YUM!

  • Winona – http://www.goldminenaturalfood.com has the best ones I’ve ever tried. Wow! you guys are doing great! I went to my kitchen to see what else I use all the time. I will add to the list: coconut oil, cold-pressed sesame oil (helps give a cooked…

  • honeygal – I have heard the same things as flybaby just mentioned. Weight lifting being the best and thin people getting stronger on a raw food diet. Swimming! That’s funny; I am feeling like I want to build some muscle & I also just decided tha…

  • I think he is at the forefront of the movement because he says he is – he is a good enough salesman to put himself there. I just try to get truth from wherever I can find it, but I agree about not sending a newbie to him :)

  • pundee – I have had the book for a couple of years, and I like some of it a lot. I have just taken the lists of foods with the different nutrients and incorporated more of them into my diet. A comment about beans not being beautifying – I had a neig…

  • I just started making nori wraps: raw nori sheet, covered with lettuce leaves (washed & dried WELL & cover the nori all but the edge – so the nori doesn’t get wet). Then for the filling, I mash together avocado, lemon juice, crushed garlic, …
  • lzhpt – The program includes NO FRUIT for the first 3 months (or more, depending in your health challenges). For the juice feast, it is one to one and a half gallons of green juice per day, and that needs to include 2 pounds of leafy greens & a …
  • My son (Superman! is his username) came up with several recipes for me when I gave him a list of ingredients. I wanted him to get the credit and be more involved with raw foodies, so I got him his own profile even though he’s only 6. Since the plan …
  • Probably the reason I don’t remember too specifically is that I wasn’t very healthy at the time & not as in tune with my body – it was before I went raw – but I do remember just a feeling of more balance.
  • mham – I haven’t used spirulins for a long time, & I’ve never used E3Live or chlorella! I used to use Nature’s Sunshine spirulina (capsules), & I like their brand. I just barely bought some spirulina powder in the bulk herbs section of the h…
  • mham – Dr. Cousens recommends chlorella, spirulina AND E3Live, so probably you’re fine. stylistchick – I noticed the same thing about cooked vs. raw food. I went down to about one third of what I had been using before, even when I ate a lot of fruit…
  • 123 – We were writing at the same time – funny! Anyway, hearing what works for you is helpful, if only to encourage me to keep going in my search/quest for health. Also, I feel really good about the approach Dr. Cousens outlines in his books and fee…
  • 123 – no, type 1 is an autoimmune disorder – the immune system attacks and kills the beta cells of the pancreas, and they say those cells don’t regenerate & patients have to inject insulin for the rest of their lives. (They used to say that brai…
  • I am looking for info. on type 1. Thanks for the link, though. I guess I’d better go edit my first post to say that. I posted it later, but not everyone has time to read all the posts. Oops! :)
  • Also, I followed the link & found an article about cinnamon, which I have read about a lot. Where can I find out more about Mike Adams & his story about healing from diabetes?
  • 123 – Thanks! I have heard someone say not to eat fruit & fat together, but they didn’t say why, & diabetes doctors and dieticians say always eat a combination of carb, fat & protein. It makes me crazy how they have been telling me how t…
  • Claire – I forgot to say that Dr. Cousens’s program for reversing diabetes starts with a seven-day green juice fast, and his book also talks about doing an extended (30-92 days) green juice FEAST that includes superfoods like spirulina & chlorel…
  • Claire – Juicing helps get more calories in than trying to chew that many greens, cucumbers, etc. Flax, nuts & avocados will help also. I thought the same as you before, & I don’t think I would ever be able to do this successfully without Dr…
  • Oh, thanks – what kind is it? Probably not supposed to have glycerin either! :D
  • Thanks, Winona, and thanks to all for your love & support.
  • This is so awesome; I am getting tons of good ideas; thanks for all your responses :) I just made about a half-gallon of green juice that I am going to drink, and I was reminded yesterday of nori wraps. Yum! I am starting to miss the sweet stuff les…
  • Hippie Chick – Thanks for the idea, but I love whole berries. Also, alcohol is a huge no-no on this plan. So even though it’s not much is an extract, I am going to stop using them. It’s really interesting what he says about the fermentation and how …
  • Thank you for all your responses! elizabethh – Thanks for the idea. I read more & found out I can’t even have buckwheat for the first few months, but I am definitely saving recipes to last long-term, and this sounds good. GregX999 – I have alrea…
