  • Thank you all for your responses!
  • cashews, almonds grown in california, and shelled pecans are not raw. cashews are put through intensive heat processing to get rid of the toxin that coats them in nature, almonds grown in california are all pasteurized (you can still get raw almond…

  • I agree with greenie….I only do green smoothies now. Firstly they are a more complete food, because they contain all the fiber as well as the nutrients, and secondly they are so much easier and take so much less cleanup. However, for a juice fast o…
  • this really is a very “nice” forum, and the majority of people are very accepting and offer very helpful advice.
  • I think I see what you mean. I meant that it seemed kind of contradictory to soak a nut and make it “alive” and then dehydrate it…but maybe I just don’t fully understand the logistics of it.
  • The only thing I eat non-organic is young coconuts, because I haven’t found any organic ones. The reasons for eating organic are innumerable…even proponents of commercially grown food stress the damage pesticides and herbicides can do to the body. L…

  • I once LIGHTLY steamed a sprouted buckwheat salad thing I made. I literally fell asleep 15 minutes after eating it, it made me so drowsy. I do believe we are all different, but my body needs really raw food.
  • Bluedolfin, I don’t know the answer to the enzyme inhibitor question, but everywhere I’ve looked involving chia seeds, the easiest way to digest them seems to be in chia gel, so apparently its not a problem. I wouldn’t worry about it=)
  • LOL I just had a chia smoothie myself after running, with mixed greens, a banana, apple, strawberries, and two tablespoons of chia seeds that I soaked for 10 minutes to make a gel. Really amazing stuff, keeps me full for hours!
  • My favorite chia recipe is this: Blend one banana, some vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamonmm etc. with about a teaspoon of coconut oil/butter and just enough water to make a thin smoothie. Soak chia seeds in this creamy mixture for about 10 minute…
  • I have a saladacco and it works great
  • I’m a student, but providing everything goes well, I’m going to get an M.D.
  • I believe that a liquid diet is very beneficial for healing purposes, but should not be followed day to day. A liquid fast can last as long as three months or more for healing, but chewing is part of the natural progression of our food intake. I don…

  • My green smoothies generally have either: a combo of hemp protein and bee pollen added, or a combo of maca and green superfood. This is added to a base of a LOT of mixed greens, and some apple, banana and/or strawberry. I find the hemp protein and b…
  • I’ve found a brand of raw sauerkraut at my local health food store, but the name escapes me…
  • That is a good question! I wouldn’t have caught that. I’d like the answer to this one as well.
  • This may be an obvious answer, but nori rolls are a nice choice, this site has many recipes. Wakame with lemon juice in a salad with diced apples, mango, a bit of shredded carrot, and tahini sauce is delicious as well.

  • I read that the “Best” brand coconuts are untreated.
  • I don’t know about the roasted and toasted flavour, but I know that soaking nuts and then dehydrating them for a while makes them crunchier than they originally were.
  • ray that slideshow thing is a GREAT idea!
  • i drink herbal tea occasionally, there is this great line of whole-leaf artisan tea called “mighty leaf”, they come in little silk pouches, and the tea is DELICIOUS. i normally drink chamomile-citrus tea unsweetened.

  • I spent a month eating at least 80% of my diet from fruit, and felt awful…very edgy and almost a little sick all of the time. I think that was because I was only exercising for about 45 minutes a day, because that is all my schedule allows. I belie…
  • I LOVE big salads. correction: HUGE salads. Mine have cucumber, tomato, sprouts, bell pepper, avocado, and are usually dressed lightly with some lemon juice and celtic salt, or some other fancier dressing. I also love young thai coconuts, and green…

  • Yes, definitely. I experienced (and still occasionally experience) detox symptoms, and I came off of a 50% raw vegan diet. You may experience something similar to a drug detox, i.e. headaches, stomach aches, weakness, dizziness, low energy, body od…
