  • :~) Niiiiice! ("now my hair smells like a garden.") I've dropped the using Bronners shikakai rinse, as it was too greasy. But have been doing really well using the Dr Woods with shea, & sometimes using a bar "shampoo" by jrliggett.com. Both are …

  • mmmorgans ~ ACV can indeed be found raw. Look on the label for "mother" included. AVC is simply fermented apple juice. Of course, the regular ACV is heated/pasteurized. But not all are. Eden brand makes one that is not.

  • Hey sexyraw99, care to share the name of that "super natural, not garbage, eco-friendly shampoo"? I'd like to know! Lately, I have been using Dr woods tea tree castile soap with shea butter (they have one without shea too), followed by Dr Bronners S…

  • "all the equipment and expensive powders and supplements are a bit scary." They are not necessary. Don't feel you need those to be raw. I did feel that coconut oil was very necessary for me, in transition. I substituted all oil, butter, etc, with co…
  • silystarrfish~ Thanks so much. Yes, that apple-zucchini bread with pecans does indeed sound wonderful! JoyceH~ I didn't know Ani Phyo had a book coming out! I'm heading over to Amazon, in hopes it has a "look inside" feature! That may be the next on…
  • silystarrfish~ I fully understand not wanting to post a copyrighted recipe, so I am not asking that- but would you please tell us what is in the Apple Cinnamon Bread, besides apples and cinnamon? Thanks!
  • I don't use sunscreen, so i can't help you there. But bug spray: I've used "Best Yet" (cedar oil and quartz) for over a year now, on my cat (I won't put "drop meds" on my cat, they are toxic!), for myself, and around the house. Great stuff. Check ar…
  • For years the only thing I used it for was hummus, regular cooked type. Going raw, I've used it for other things, and I really don't care for it. It was "necessary" for real hummus, but now, ugh...nah, I have no use for it any more. I tried using up…
  • Redmond Realsalt is not just a fine "replacement", it is a very good choice! It's my preferred salt. From their site (www.realsalt.com): "Long before the earth knew pollutants of any kind, a huge, ancient sea covered what is now North America. Pure,…
  • Oh my goodness! I've known about that site for a few years, and have not noticed that page yet!! Thanks so much, rawganic, for sharing it. :~)
  • Below 80 degrees would be better (and above 65. Preferably 70 to 80). Buckwheat needs to be rinsed often! Actually, all sprouts should be rinsed 2 to 3 (or even more, depending on temperatures and humidity) times a day. But you need to be religious …
  • shortcake~ Why not try marinating something in apple vinegar, or lemon, or lime, and drying it? I have done kale chips in lemon juice and sprinkled sea salt, and it tasted very similar to vinegar chips to me- only not heavy like kettle chips, much m…
  • No problem! Let us know how it goes. :~)
  • Easy one, LaEnsalada: Here is Rhio on youtube, showing how to make nut yogurts:
  • Ooohh, moon pie! Yesssssss......
  • Sorry, nope. To each his/her own. Lime and salt make it guac in my book. Cilantro is nasty in *anything*, to me. ;~)

  • Myself, I wouldn't put them in a food processor to make guacamole. If they are over processed they brake down to a texture I am not fond of. Kind of like nuts turn oily when processed (into nut butter). I simply use a fork, or potato masher. I found…

  • "I remember learning the color just has to do with which particular flowers those bees frequent." Yep. :~)
  • "Raw honey has a very dark color while regular honey has a light color." Not accurate, sorry. I currently have several jars of raw honey in my cabinet- ranging from almost white, through a yellow tone to one that's darn near black. Take a look (I th…
  • What about ordering online? That's where I get mine. I have tried several, from many different places. (and none of them have comb in it.) I'd offer links, but they are US. Try doing a search. :~)
  • I've done the mango & tomato combo, too, but without the ACV. It's one of my favs. My other fav salad dressing is simply the juice of an orange, pulp included (but of course, that's not creamy). Thinkin' maybe you could throw the whole orange (p…
  • 110? wow, I would have never thought it needed to be that high for coconut yogurt. I made regular yogurt for decades, and kept it at 85 degrees for 8 hours. (I used a large pot of water, sitting on a heating pad, set on low, put the jars into the po…

  • Probiotics would make yogurt. I'm not real familiar with kefir...isn't it a bit different than yogurt?

  • I don't have any answers for you-- I am interested too! I figured I would add a comment, so it will bump to the front page-- more folks will see it there, and hopefully someone will have an answer for us!

  • glamazon~ from what I've read (can't remember where- hopefully not this thread! lol~) introducing raw ACV will introduce mother of vinegar (of course!) but it is not the same bacteria as what you want for kombucha. I dunno, just passing on info.
  • Thanks for the input Suasoria. I guess I really shouldn't bother then, because I don't need that much...would take me a month or more to use it. Plus having to find (or buy) a jar that large. FYI: I read at the below linked site that you should neve…
  • I *do* think I would be leary of accepting a free scoby from someone I don't know. I mean, how clean is *their* kitchen, and brewing practices? I bought a new bottle. It seems to have a good start of one already-- about the size of a silver dollar. …
  • Ohhh, ok, I just tried this stuff today, for the first time. ooooh, yeah, I am so in. At first I was a bit dismissive when I first heard of it. ehhh, didn't appeal to me; not sure why, I used to make my own yogurt when I ate dairy. But I finally gav…
  • megan lyne~ From what I have read, there are way more nutrients in the rind of watermelon, than in the parts typically eaten. I think it tastes wonderful!! I like to think of it as natural "Gatoraid". Sometimes more sweet than others (and you can ma…
