  • gratefultobe - I remember eating those nasty 'protein bars' that people bought for me when i was veggie as a teenager, worried about my protein intake. I tried one and spewed across the kitchen. They stopped buying em : ) Superfood - good, i was won…
  • I didn't think of that - Angie, you might be right. Besides it's a lot of time and effort to do tray after tray of greens. Mung bean sprouts might be more cost effective when dehydrating.
  • Interesting suggestion, chiffon. Those juvo powders are $40/lb, also rather pricey. Freeze dried then powdered veggies is what is in juvo. I wonder if i could make that myself. Dehydrate greens until bone dry, then convert them into a powder. Wouldn…
  • Great idea pinkcleo - I bet I could make hemp milk in my vitamix. Excellent suggestion. Raw hemp protein powder? I will try making one. That sounds like an excellent substitute for whey powder.
  • oh man, can't believe i didn't think of green juice! i love the idea of using green juice in a chocolate smoothie. If i get the ratios right, he won't notice the green flavor. GREAT ideas Angie, thanks for posting here!
  • I wonder if i could blend the chia seeds into a smooth texture in the smoothie. Great thinking, Pam! Zemphira - I wonder if i could MAKE that hemp protein powder myself by coffee-grinding hemp seeds. Thanks for the review of brendan brazier's shake …
  • Good to know, daniefon. I might test out the brazil nuts, to check the texture. They might be okay, after all i'm using the vitamix. I could use fewer brazils and more cashews for a smoother shake.
  • daniefon - I'm glad you mentioned that brazil nuts can be gritty. Textures are very important, so i'll stick with cashews because it's a smooth texture. Angie mentioned that cashews would be about 4 cups/lb, so for me that's $2 per cup. If I used $2…
  • Angie - GREAT idea to use cashews to mimic yogurt! He actually likes cashews, so that's perfect. Bee pollen is strong, so I don't want to try that just yet - I'm trying to make 'safe foods', things he's used to eating, before offering anything unusu…
  • Thanks for commenting, I'm really hoping to encourage him to try a new shake. I can't wait to hear the recommendations! \ Unfortunately, he likes junk food and sugar and pizza. He's avoided fruits and veggies for the most part. I'm making fresh juic…

  • A high power blender and a nut milk bag is best. I have a juicer and never use it - the high power blender is the best choice. I have a suggestion related to food. Drink a huge blender full of green smoothie every morning. Greens help a LOT with cra…
  • vegan2raw - it's not hype. i use the big excalibur, the 9 tray. i find it quite useful. i do batches once a week and dehydrate 9 trays worth of wraps or tomatoes or pineapple or bread etc. i haven't found it to heat up my room.

  • hehe - they don't add heat to the room at all. funny question : ) electricity - they cost a few cents an hour. the excalibur website has the exact cost details.

  • Rhea - I have entered my calories in nutridiary on occasion. It is hard to know if i estimate correctly, but I get a general idea. I probably eat 2,000 to 2,500 calories a day, perhaps more on some days. I eat plenty of greens, fruit, some flax/nuts…
  • Aviatrix- your skin positively glows! I'm inspired that you've been raw 6 years, i look forward to health improvements after being raw for a long time. Rawskeptic - I simply must agree with what aviatrix says "Passing judgement on this liftetyle aft…
  • If i had listened to some guru telling me to eat only fruit, or eat no fruit, or this or that - I WOULD NOT BE RAW right now. I AM SUCCESSFULLY RAW for 1 year (99% raw) because I listen to my body. You heard me right - my body. I don't follow what o…

  • Find out what's best for your body right now! At the moment, my body doesn't do well on too much fruit. I try and do what's best for my body at this moment (and that can change weekly or monthly etc). For the past year, I have found that i'm at my b…

  • Yup I eat honey. Thanks for the recommendation, rawmama. I'm lucky enough to have local, truly raw honey available from a compassionate beekeeper - so I'm going to stick with buying local. Thanks anyway!
  • Hi stephanie. What kind of cacao is your favorite? I've heard that the one from Sunfood is very good. What do you think? Do you have a preference?
  • I wholeheartedly agree with Constantin. I'm female, and I choose my male partners in much the same way as he has described above. I prefer to take the lead on choosing who I date, and an easy way to do so is to initiate conversations with men I find…
  • Lettuce in green juice is awesome.
  • someone posted to goneraw who had gone to living light. they suggested that instead of spending money on that, buy every raw cookbook and watch videos on uncooking and practice practice. That's how i've gotten good!

  • Im surprised that no one has suggested colon hydrotherapy. It was very helpful for me in relieving the same IBS type problems that you describe. I go every 2-3 months, and it's done a world of good for me. Also, it's helpful for me to eat 1.5lbs gre…

  • Green Smoothie. banana, swiss chard, and fruit (pear or strawberries). If it's the weekend and I want a real treat, I have almond milk over berries and grawnola or chia seed cereal (chia goodness is the name of the packaged cereal i eat).
