  • audrey—that’s indeed sad. i actually get a little pang of frustration any time there is a cooked meal in a movie now though… like you just want to tell them: “don’t you know???” have you seen the part of notting hill where hugh grant has a blind dat…

  • yes… who did he think you were cheating on? if YOU were doing the eating, and ALSO the same person who wanted to be raw, then who exactly was going to be fooled here?

  • hahaha bluedolphin! definitely no big deal! last december i thought i’d be polite and taste a dish my mom’s friend swore was just green beans and garlic from a chines take-out place. i’m eating it and going “this is ok” when my brother goes “i think…

  • moth—i know you’ve been frutarian for a little while. i was eating a lot of fruit, and when i cut back i got REALLY REALLY hungry… it might be your body trying to balance out the sugar? i don’t know… i just know it takes time to recalibrate when you…

  • MOTH—was this a raw foodist who was surprised… people are usually surprised by how much salad i can eat because they don’t eat salad! if they tried living on salad they would realize they needed more than a “side salad.” =)

  • don’t be afraid of the price cuz it doesn’t weigh hardly anything.
  • any cracker recipe you like will make a great burger. just shape it differently. if you click on my profile the flatbread recipe makes a good mushroom-free burger.
  • sorry, off topic—thanks for the ayurveda recommendation… i realized i was eating too many spicy foods! it was so DUH! but it took reading that list. i am taking a little break from jalepeno peppers. thanks!
  • the magic bullet is incredible… it can ALMOST make nut butter, but not quite. it gets the almonds a LOT finer than a food processor though, and if you add a little water to it it is SO creamy. i usually don’t make “butters” but just add the butter i…
  • i have. delicious! you can add soaked sunflower seeds to frozen bananas in the food processor (i use a magic bullet) for a creamy ice cream. i add them to any pudding i’m making if i’m out of avocado. it’s really not a taste highlight. it’s very muc…
  • you can also make cookies in your food processor (or with your hands) by mixing nuts (almonds, walnuts, whatever) with dates.

  • bring something you can share with everyone… make some delicious banana “ice cream” with dates and cinnamon, some almond meal cookies… you don’t have much time… better get un-cooking! =) have fun!

  • call the company and ask. people are more than willing to answer questions!
  • for a lighter fat, you could use avocado. raw fats really don’t react with your body the same way cooked fats do (cooking fats is the WORST idea ever!). have you read the raw food detox diet or raw life force energy by natalia rose? she has some goo…
  • http://therawfooddetoxdiet.com/ natalia rose has a list of practioners all over the country… hopefully there’s one in the south for you!
  • absolutely. i’m assuming you are from nyc. check out lytnyc.com and ask for cindy if she’s available. mavon is also great. i’m sure they all are though.
  • isn’t chocolate proven to be addictive anyway though? i would guess it’s like coming off coffee or alcohol… you go through withdrawal
  • cal_gungert05—if you allowed yourself to eat more greens i would bet you would find you needed less calories. this is what is happening to me. but are you asking because you aren’t feeling fantastic? if you feel fantastic on your diet, maybe it’s wo…
  • i use napa valley naturals and it says on the bottle “unfiltered” and not heated above 95 degrees. it isn’t very expensive either. it is the best olive oil i’ve ever tasted!
  • you don’t have to freeze it either, you can just have a container in your fridge. it’ll keep for a few days. i love making breads, crackers and veggie patties out of the pulp.

  • p.s. one trip a week might be a little optimistic when you need so much fresh stuff. i make 2-3 small trips a week.
  • wow… i’ll try a few: —raw food is not like living on another planet, any place that sells produce should be fine. i’d recommend buying greens and stuff you can’t peel ORGANIC, but that’s up to you… a nice ‘health food store’ that has a bulk section …
  • whenever i juice a cucumber i think: if i had an abundance of cucumbers i’d drink this instead of water. you’d be in a pretty cool fix in my book. also, you can dehydrate them and use them in the winter in cracker, bread and veggie pattie recipes. i…
  • p.s. i know nothing about hair, sorry that was unrelated ;)
  • stickybumps23—i just read your profile and that you have been living in england. this is one of my completely un-researched theories on hypothyroidism (from which i suffered)... but i always noticed that i did better in warmer, sunnier climates. i’m…
  • the leaves are actually more nutritious than the beet. juice away! i tend to use the greens for smoothies and the stalks and root for juice.
  • p.s. another way to think of detox… on raw, you are giving all your cells the go ahead to release all the bad stuff they have been squirling away for years from poor food choices. sometimes if we become too clean too fast too much gets released all …
  • i didn’t experience ANY detox symptoms. i think it depends on what your diet is like to begin with. i did get VERY hungry after week 2 and started eating bananas like i was an ape. i recommend eating a lot of greens! it might be easier to just set u…
