  • standard american diet. it’s used by all sorts of people to make their diet not sound “sad.” i think when raw foodists say “sad” they usually mean people who aren’t raw foodists. generally it refers to the hamburger, steak and potato eating diet. hi…

  • oh, one more thing: if you feel like you need it, then i think it’s a perfectly acceptable transition food. no guilt.
  • chocolate makes me feel like i’ve had 10 cups of coffee. i don’t eat it anymore as a result. she recommends eating dagoba bars, which is a company that got bought out by nestle. =( if you like chocolate, there are some delicious recipes on this site…
  • oh, and i second, third, whatever all the info here. mandelicious is right about the food pyramid. it’s interesting to know that it is a political tool, not a nutritional one. meat and dairy lobbyists have more to do with how it turned out than any …
  • i’ve read a lot to suggest soy has negative health benefits, except when traditionally fermented (which means cooked, which means i am a doubter). i’ve also read that soy is highly mucus causing and can cause thyroid problems (which i’ve experienced…

  • i read that arrowhead mills temps get very high… higher than raw. if you look at the glass jar it doesn’t say “raw” anywhere. plus, tahini isn’t necessarily raw, it’s just PURE tahini paste. if you google arrowhead mills and raw i think you’ll find …

  • oh how annoying. my entire post just got erased! =) ok. what i said in a nutshell: go to foods: -fresh fruit (bananas, oranges, strawberries, whatever you like and is appealing… be adventurous!) -homemade salad dressing—have a good amount in the fri…
  • rawprincess1—when i first went raw i really wanted bread, so i ate manna bread (not raw, but low-temp cooked) dipped in olive oil with some sort of tomato and pepper spread, or just plain. that really helped. and after about 5 days i was sick of it …
  • winona—i know. i play my music in an italian restaurant sometimes and tonight the pasta sauce with the smell of parmesan cheese on it was just killing me. but i try to think of it like any other fragrance. i love the smell of roses, but i’d hardly c…
  • oh dinner was the hardest during winter. i started making raw flatbreads that really do it for me. i love having a meal that i have to assemble as i eat… i lay out loads of “fixings” like marinated and warmed (dehydrated) onion, pepper, mushrooms. i…
  • no idea what i weigh now or before. don’t believe in scales. BUT, i can tell i’ve morphed down by having to buy an entirely new wardrobe. congrats to everyone for achieving your goals! it feels SO much better to be lighter. =)
  • well i haven’t tried them but i do know that whole foods has this great policy about returning used food items. they actually WANT you try things and if you don’t like them (receipt or not) you can return them.

  • oh, you can also make herbal concoctions raw by the way. i just realized that my “tea” is only non-raw when i forget to watch the pot. it tastes delicious before it’s boiled.
  • if you want it try some and see how you feel. no one else can tell you how to feel about something. it’s not raw of course. of course. =) personally, i like a little herbal elixir every once in a while. i like ginger, pepper, & cinnamon boiled i…

  • wow. there are just so many THEORIES of appropriate times to eat. do you think our bodies were designed to eat on a schedule? i actually don’t. i belive we should eat when we are hungry. stop when we are full. in time i’ve gotten into a better rhyth…

  • oh, i meant to say i was anemic BEFORE going raw. haven’t had any iron problems since, but like i said i attribute my ability to ABSORB it to less worrying (which is hard when you are worrying about your diet… gets to be a pretty vicious cycle.) yea…
  • just so you know… when someone replies to a forum it automatically goes to the top of the forum list, so you can just type “hello” or something on the same forum to get people’s attention, rather than re-posting. =) are you eating a lot of dehydrate…
  • wow. that further confirm my theory that modern medical practitioners have more close encounters with extra-terrestrials than healthy humans!
