  • good for you! I will be with ya for breakfast at least. :-)
  • won’t eating raw foods be detox enough? i’m skeptical about fast detoxes, I tend to just want to eat lots of raw fruits and veggies.
  • any teas or dehydrated citrus skins would be super-natural. lavender too, the real deal not the oil would work.
  • what about veggiedate.com? I met my husband at an anti-fur protest.
  • do bananas help? they are very starchy to me. be sure to take a probiotic. sorry to hear you are so sick. take care of yourself.
  • i find it’s what i crave too. although i do enjoy other meals, fruit is the most nourishing for me. it’s over 50% of what i eat.
  • honestly i think even nuts at a store that are questionable are better than cooked food. any steaming or blanching is less than cooked food goes through. don’t let that deter you. i am traveling and I have to make these choices.

  • I think it is called Organic Garden in Beverly. It is an all-raw restaurant. I’ve been there dozens of time and I’m never disappointed. You have to go!
  • give it time!

  • try using fresh herbs, a new salad dressing, some new spices. remember, food is your nourishment, not your entertainment. :-)
  • I just took a flight to the east coast. In my suitcase I packed several raw crackers and a pack of almonds. In my carry-on I packed some crackers, lots of celery and carrots, peaches, and some seed cheese. I haven’t figured out anything else that wi…
  • i have found that the food processor does better with nuts and seeds because it has a broader base. hey zoe, are hulled sesame seeds ok?

  • If you go to excaliber’s website they have a whole essay about the temperature and how the temperature of the dehydrator is different than the food, etc. But in a hot metal toaster oven, the temperature could go up quicker. The best bet is to get a …
  • yup zoe i’ve heard the same about seaweed not being the right type. i currently take a b-complex vitamin. but my probiotic kombucha has b-12 in it.

  • flax? have you tried it? like a whole half cup or something in the evening.
  • are you on rawfu? I have a food long on there. But typically, here’s what I have. am: green smoothie, fruit, maybe some raw granola or something lunch: big salad, flax cracker or nut or seed pate. fruit for dessert snack: fruit, raw chocolate (!), o…

  • I know, you have to really educate yourself so you are not caught off guard. I didn’t have all my anti-soy info lined up in my head and just resorted to “I feel better off it”. But it is better to know what is actually wrong with cooked food. Hopefu…

  • you are so right. you need DHA not just EFAs. I started taking a vegan DHA this spring and I have been feeling a lot better. My husband takes it too. It’s from blue-green algae. I also take a D2 supplement (not as good at absorbing as D3, but better…
  • Last BBQ I went early and said I had another commitment and left as soon as the food started cooking up. I typically hate BBQs because I hate the smell of meat cooking (i’m a long-time vegetarian). Most other events are a lot easier. Can you tell th…
  • I know that dehydrating pretty dry things is Ok in the sun (like nuts, etc) but I have heard that sun tea can be a breeding ground for bacteria. If you read on the excaliber’s website, you will see they have talked about the issue of warm enough to …

  • I’ve used sunflower seeds in combination in a crust, but I’m sure it would work fine. Be sure to soak and dehydrate them. For some reason I have a hard time digesting sunflower seeds unsoaked.
  • 4 months raw, about 25 pounds lost. Green smoothies daily. I eat anything I want as long as it’s raw. I eat a LOT of greens and fruit. And a fair amount of fat too. Kombucha almost daily. but desenchantee, raw will not necessarily make you underweig…
  • Kind of related but there was a woman at the farmer’s market tonight selling tea all natural but with sugar in it. So many things marketed as healthy have cane sugar in it. It makes me mad too.
  • Awww, hugs Debbie. That’s all I have to say.
  • Izhpt, I think it depends on the couple’s interests. He had a strong interest in cooking and also making food for me. So when he wasn’t able to do that with cooked food, he tried with raw. I think it was just adjusting the pattern you are in. I neve…
  • back to the raw couple topic, my husband is finally pretty much raw! i left on a trip and thought for sure he would revert back to what he used to do (cooked vegan). well i just talked to him and he is making salad dressing and planning what raw mea…
  • i am pro-fruit and pro-herb. i don’t really see enough proof that onions are bad for you. just because we follow a non-conventional diet doesn’t mean we need to follow every bit of pseudo science out there.

  • leaving aside all else that was said, reading david wolfe’s book “Eating for Beauty”, he seems to think coconut oil is the best fat. It is not easily available (meaning not in the conventional grocery store), so you might not have tried it. Just wan…
