  • Llecler, if you are not using the stove you might be able to rig some kind of board on it to use that space as well. And store stuff inside it.
  • I have a four-tray and it is not too loud. It’s just like a small fan sound. If you want an on/off or timer, you could get the 5 tray. I don’t dehydrate too much so 4 trays has been fine for me. We honestly don’t have room for anything bigger, as it…
  • Well I know marijuana growers do it. Have you googled it? The kindergarten teacher at my school grows starter plants inside. I can ask her in late August when we get back. Sorry.
  • What does your daily menu (breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack) look like? breakfast is green smoothie and maybe a banana too. lunch and dinner are interchangeable: big salads, collard or cucumber wraps, raw pate with salad, chili, curry, and dessert. if i…

  • oh yeah i get ya about the moralizing. well people might say that you spend more in the front but get more back, it’s preventative health care. it’s a way to rationalize it. so far working for me! i am way down on health costs with fewer copays for …
  • NYCgrrl, we were cheering about lowering our monthly budget from $900 to $750. And that’s for 2 of us. So you are doing great if you can get 4 people under that! And that is really cool you are teaching your kids about food. you’re an great mom. you…
  • I totally get it. it’s not cheap here in seattle, but better than NYC! i do think the farmer’s markets might help but i went to one in brooklyn a few months ago and it wasn’t much cheaper! my cousin belonged to a co-op in brooklyn but you had to be …
  • It’s an email list. You post things up you don’t need, then others who need them get them. You can also post wanted things but more sparingly. That’s how I got my ice cream maker. Just today someone posted up a food processor. Lots of kitchen stuff.

  • I would probably only buy non-organic tomatoes if they were local and i could talk to the farmer. otherwise yup they taste awful.
  • most chocolate is roasted. but i think you can get cacao butter (cocoa butter) that is raw and you can melt it on low heat.
  • Well said mamamilk, i agree to supplement with supervision only.
