  • YES, greenghost. In April or May I found out I was allergic to casein—when I cut it out of my system I had incredible withdrawl symptoms—mostly horrible headache, fever, chills, sweating. yuck. glad I’m rid of it.
  • One thing that you could make is a peach cobbler. Peaches are in season now and the cobbler crust (made with pumpkin seeds, almonds, dates, and see salt, that’s all!) is so good. And- you can’t even tell that it’s raw. Another idea that I had is tha…
  • I was thinking of the blender thing too… Also, do you put fats or other things besides just straight fruits and greens into your smoothies (almond mylk, coconut oil, hemp seeds, etc…)? If so, maybe your body isn’t doing well with the combination of …
  • I know that coconut water is what you get when you open up a young thai coconut (all of the clear-ish liquid that seeps out). I always thought that coconut milk was the water mixed with the white coconut pulp that lines the inside of the shell.
  • OMG, I just googled teflex to see about the teflon thing. The funny thing is I always thought that those plastic-y mesh things that come with the Excalibur dehydrator WERE the teflex sheets. I didn’t know they were a whole separate thing that you ha…

  • teflon?! seriously? jiminy christmases (I have no idea how to spell that but I sure say it a lot), you’ve got to be kidding me!

  • Thanks Zoe (btw, Zoe is my daughter’s name, I love that name :) ) that was a good thread. Now I know why my cats didn’t do well with raw food before—I’m pretty sure it was red meat. Thanks you so much everyone who responded.

  • Thanks so much, rosehebrew. Oh, I’m sorry that you are feeling bad about not being able to feed one of your dogs the diet that you wish you could feed it. (smiles) we all are just doing the best we can, aren't we... I'm sure our pets feel our love a…

  • Thanks beany! Yep, I saw that site last night. It’s funny that they call it the BARF diet :) You would think they could have thought of a better name, lol!

  • I don’t feed my cats a vegetarian diet. I feed them what I feel is the best cat food available at the pet store. They did not do well on a raw meat diet—although this was about 5 years ago when I tried it. I did not stop feeding them raw meat becaus…

  • Rosehebrew, saying that if “I cannot handle the cats natural diet then maybe next time I should get a rabbit or a bird” was a little harsh. That would be like me telling you that you are a bad person for not eating a raw food diet your entire life (…

  • I thought about this more and realized it is probably not that the raw meat that dogs and cats eat has special vitamins/minerals that they need, but rather that their digestive tract is different than ours and that is why they need a different type …

  • Thank you everyone for your replies. I thought this might be the response I would get :) but I wanted to make sure because I love preparing his food, but at the same time I cannot handle the raw meat thing. I tried this before with my cats and it wa…

  • check out the book Nourishing Traditions, might be a good source of info for you. It’s just a good read in general… although I don’t follow much of what is written. It’s best to follow your own path, right?!

  • I had a hard time sprouting chickpeas. I rinsed them many, many times and they still got all filmy/moldy looking and smelled disgusting. Ew, I threw them away. Maybe I’ll try them again at some point, but I don’t really miss legumes at all.

  • OH No, chakra essence! To you, my friend, I would probably say don’t go to college. Well, not that one anyway. Hope you can switch to something more worthwhile, challenging, and joyful soon :)

  • If writing is what you like to do, and you’re an english major, then I would stick with it. YES- you will find it SO MUCH more interesting when you get into the upper-division courses. You will be able to take classes that are directly related to th…

  • jkd_soccer, what are you studying in school? Does it relate at all to the many things that you would be doing if you were not in school right now?

  • The car fuel analogy was a good one, el-bo, because I understand what you and jkd_soccer are saying now. Logically, it just seems as though he would have to eat less if he were eating raw though… that his body would spend less energy just digesting …
  • He is probably eating so many calories because his body is starving for the right type of food. If he were eating raw food I doubt he would have to spend as much of his time eating as many calories as he does now.
  • OH, I had another idea (perhaps the most obvious!) Put it in the blender with a lot of greens (kale, cilantro, spinach…) and make her a green smoothie :) That would be so good for her and her baby! (not sure about that type of juice though- I didn’t…
  • celery juice? avocado?(hmmm, that might be gross) and you could use some of the more sour berries like raspberry or strawberry. Maybe some sort of vegetable juice combination would be good with it. Sorry, that’s all I could come up with :) Hopefully…
  • I can’t sleep during a full moon. Just the light of the moon peeping through my window is enough pull to keep me awake.
  • I think that raw onions and garlic are yummy. hmmm. Only in moderation though.

  • Thanks for your concern, greenghost. I do eat a lot of fats. I meant my post to be a personal message to el-bo, saying that in general his posts remind me to take the simple road rather than get all worked up about what I’m eating- which is what I t…
