  • I wish you lived in the Richmond, VA area – I’d go for it! ;-) Btw, what juicer do you recommend? I was considering the Samson 6 in 1. Your thoughts?
  • I make sesame milk regularly for that same reason. I use unhulled seeds and soak them overnight. When I looked at the nutritional label of hulled vs unhulled, the unhulled had like 4x more calcium, so that’s why I choose them. Perhaps you need to ad…

  • Andy, I’m a little curious about the Nature’s First Food and avo (fast?) that you mention. Was it a fast or a cleanse? Was it out of necessity? What are the details and proportions taken? I haven’t heard of such a thing – please elaborate, if you wo…
  • I took the plunge and ordered the Omega 8003 from an Ebay dealer. I’ll let you know how it goes ;-)

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to provide such details. I know it took a lot of effort on your part. I appreciate it. The Omega has definitely moved up in my search. Thanks again

  • Jenny – how long have you owned it? how’s the clean-up? how wet/dry does the left over pulp come out? Thanks!

  • I wouldn’t go for the Jack Lalane. I bought one for about $90 at Costco last year and was disappointed. It work ok for the first two times, but then I had to replace the blade b/c it was no longer sharp enough. I returned it and am now in the resear…

  • I use the whole apple – quartered, minus the seeds. You can try using juice (orange, apple, coconut milk) instead of water to thin the consistency.
  • Thanks for posting this. I have been following this issue personally and am very interested to see how this Spring will be for our pollinators.

  • Happy New Year to you too!!! Thanks for all of your help throughout last year – I appreciate your support (and everyone else’s too). :-)
  • Lucy, thanks for this thread! I missed it the first time as I was away on travel for the holidays. I definitely want to do a cleanse and will probably gear up for my first one next week – maybe Saturday 1/5/08? I need to review all of the info and …
  • Lucy, can you give some more details on the liver cleanse you do? thanks! (is it the grapefruit one?) and also, how often do you do it?
  • you can eat those sprouts too! :-) (homer is bald anyway)

  • today my smoothie consisted of 2 apples, 1 mango, 5 oz. of baby spinach, and 3 cups or so of water to make 1/2 gallon of green smoothie. Really good, this one
  • Lol! My hubby and I split it – 1 qt. each (plus any that our toddler will drink). I used to put it into a half gallon pitcher in the fridge, but it was difficult to keep the air out. I have since found that I really like wide-mouthed mason jars. Yes…
  • I’ll join you! Today my smoothie consisted of 2 apples, 1 mango, and a handful of strawberries with a 5 oz. package of Baby Spring Mix. I added maybe 2 – 3 cups of water. This made 1/2 gal. of green smoothie. It wasn’t too sweet and was thin enough …
  • Wow, this is a great education. Everyone should take 20 mins to view this film
  • I personally feel helpless. It seems that with other government actions, the general public is limited in stopping unwanted changes. With this said, I think it’s likely that our greens are in jeopardy. It seems that the long-term solution is to buy …

  • Good point. Although, that would support the ‘super foods’ practice. Personally, I believe in moderation and variation. On a separate note, I have been enjoying reading your biking blog. That’s something that I’d like to do someday, but on a smaller…
  • I clicked on that link and it didn’t work. Maybe this one will: http://www.reuters.com/article/healthNews/idUSN… This is great, except that there is the potential for misleading info, such as with cholesterol getting a negative score – may not dist…

  • When you’re in a depressed set of mind, it’s easy to discourage yourself. You’re right, walking around the house is not the same as a brisk walk while pushing a stroller outside. 12’C is 53’F, which is not too cold to walk. If you’re chilly, bundle …

  • K-Mom, yes, I’ve been there. I too had/have no one to talk to. I feel for you. What helped me was daily walks in the sunshine. It was my son’s pediatrician that noticed and suggested that I go for walks. From this, you get exercise and Vitamin D. Bo…
