  • I agree, it comes with time too. But The moment I'd feel upset, I'd eat something with Magnesium, as it is lost during stress, and has a calming effect. Greens do the best, and my go-to was Spirulina, or...Cacao ;) Excercise, no matter how much you …
  • He may not be getting enough vitamins and minerals, and so his body feels the need to eat more. I used to eat ALL day before going raw. Bee pollen, Sole (mineral rich salt water in small doses-you can make yourself google if unfamiliar), superfoods,…

  • Start sprouting, and eating bananas more. It will cut the cost a litte and maybe they won't complain as much... also, perhaps you should bring to their attention the money that goes on the frivolous things your brother enjoys (not exact amounts, don…
  • I watched the last clip, and part of the first... The last clip, I have to say, I appreciate their concern and thoughts, but I find them a bit misinformed on certain points. And yes, Kombucha should be taken in moderation 4-8 oz. in the morning and …

  • It may be that the batch is newer, and the bacteria haven't eaten all of the sugar yet (most Kombuchas are bottled with a little extra sugar for bubbles). I do agree that it also could be your tastes evolving and becoming more sensitive. Perhaps you…

  • Yes, I second Pomegranites!!!
  • I love Kim-Chi but my roommates don't like to smell garlic seeping off me. :( haha I'm making some today. MMMM! I think fermented cabbage feels the best of all the fermented foods I eat. I suppose do to the large amounts of lacto bacilli. YUM!

  • I've been wondering... Is it possible to keep Piima yogurt cultures alive on vegan milks? It seems there ought to be a way to adapt these things.

  • I forgot about fennel. I have fennel seed and I should probably add it to my spice blend when making B&G. MM.
  • I make it vegan without soy products, however I haven't figured a good way of doing it raw because..well, all my bread attempts thus far have been wretched. As for the cooked Vegan: Coconut oil seasoned with hot (though you can use regular) paprika,…
  • As far as I know. I sprout and use them for grass or granola. :D Haven't done the grass in ages though because my juicer just tears at, then discards them. Even when I feed it through with something tender.

  • I agree with short excercise throughout the day and warming spices: Sage, hot peppers, cinnamon, ginger tea, cardamom, black pepper, and such. Salt makes me warm. I also have two really great ways of warming if all else fails: Cats. :)
  • I kind of figured ELF wasn't raw, but KNOW ING it is upsetting. :( I haven't bought ELF products in a while but I loved those cacao paste squares. Pooh.

  • I use it. It doesn't break me out, even when I have eaten entirely too much. I never have difficulties falling asleep either, but raw cacao is extremely low in caffiene. The raw things that keep me energized never prevent me from relaxing, or restin…

  • Quinoa, TEA, Indian food, and on occasion, I'll have rice milk or Coffee. This winter I've been eating way too much cooked and I don't feel very energetic. Besides the above, which is more usual for my non-raw meals when I have them, I've become a p…
  • Eating high-green prevents my paleness from burning. I can't say that I could stay out ALL day, but I can stay out for several hours and not burn now (it used to be half an hour and I was painfully red).
  • Do like Dates? Dried or fresh, whatever you can get your hands on- high in calories and tasty! Most fats and dried fruits (or sweeter ones) are high in calories. Is it for necessary weight gain or is your Doctor just concerned about your lack of cal…

  • I do garlic, a bit of onion, lots of basil (fresh or dried, though I rarely have fresh :( ), touch of olive oil, tomatoes, salt and pepper. Possibly something else that I don't remember...but you have the general idea. YUM! I just ate salted zucchin…

  • iliveyourdream- Going to see them in Atlanta! I was so thrilled that their tour corresponded with my trip (cheap tickets too)... Never used agave in brewing. I bet it tastes nice. Green and black make good Kombucha (I generally like 2/3 green 1/3 bl…
  • makelena, the only "buzz" I get is the clean-energetic kind. I've never felt drunk...In my un-doctorly opinion it would not effect the meds, if spaced throughout the day. Fresh squeezed orange juice is .5 percent alcohol. Nearly the same as Kombucha…
  • I have to either right-click and do "open a new tab" or "open in a new window" instead of clicking directly to the recipe. It brings it up that way, but you still have the page you were on. If this makes sense. I am terrible at explanations. :)
  • I know how you feel. I have people that I love that I want to help, but they just want to "wallow". I don't see how when you complain constantly of pain, or illnesses, or when you worry about being overweight, that you wouldn't want to do something …
  • That's great!!!!! And now that you have the film, there is next to no chance of contamination. So, you can relax, and watch the beautiful (tasty) progress. I really want to do a hibiscus brew next, but that would mean I have to go to the store and I…
  • You're welcome! What would life be like without tea and/or fermented foods? You should peek at it. :) By now there should be a little bit of film or residues at the top (may be hard to see at certain angles, especially since this is the first). The …
  • haha yes, MMMM Chai! Almond extract is good(stronger than just almond milk). mm. Isn't life great? So many wonderful, joyous, varying things!! :) Coconut is good in iced Chai-ccino. I'm also a freak for Cardamom, so I always add extra. (haha I just …
  • For me, cacao, and especially, SPIRULINA (and anything else green, the darker the better). I had/have bad depression (recurrences when I can't or don't stay raw hmm.), and the only thing that seems to help when in despair is Spirulina. I'm not sayin…
  • I do have a jar going with Rooibos. But I add 1-2 tsp. regular tea per half gallon because the yeast need a little to live off of. It would have such a minute amount of caffiene that it isn't even worth mentioning really. :) Watch out for jars that …
  • I have tried different blacks, greens, whites, and a self made blend. I think green tends to taste the best, and it does produce a better carbonation and thicker scoby. It just depends on what you are in the mood for really as far as taste goes. Be …
  • "Poor the tea into a one gallon glass jar and then add the bottle of Kombucha. Fill the jar with the rest of the water." No, put the GT's kombucha on top. The good bacteria and yeast should be on top so they can protect it from airborne and/or bad b…
  • I make white sauce with it. White sauce is usually just butter, milk and flour/thickener. Avocado does all of that with water salt and pepper. Grated zucchini pasta. :) Obviously there is guacamole, ice cream, puddings, eating them plain, in sandwic…
