  • There is a forum on this site called “a new earth” which centers on a book by Eckhart Tolle. Oprah (and the author) is doing a 10 week course, free of charge, on Oprah.com. I watched the first week before buying the book. I just bought the book toda…
  • Hi Luna, yes it’s a touchy subject but it is also a tragic fact. I know what you mean when you say you feel helpless. I know a lot of people who are aware of the inhumane treatment of factory farmed animals, as well as the dangers of eating meat tha…
  • It depends how much room you have and how many people you will be “dehydrating” for. I have a 5 tray, which works great for me. I’m always trying new recipes so I use it a lot. I feed 2 people. I could probably make do with a 4 tray though. Good luc…

  • Northern: I can top your popcorn crisis. I took my son to the movies the other day and pigged out on gross movie theater popcorn with butter!! I felt physically ill later, so I guess I won’t do that again any time soon. Marysia: I’m with you. I’ll a…

  • I haven’t posted any recipes yet because I’m afraid I won’t give the right amounts if I don’t write it down when I’m making it, but by far my best green smoothie (which I’m addicted to by the way) is very simple. I throw in 3 cups of purified water …

  • I have to agree with waterbaby. Raw meat is just dead animal. Even if it’s grass fed and hormone and antibiotic free. Meat takes ages to digest and can cause your system to be sluggish. I’m not one to preach cause I haven’t worked out all the kinks …

  • Shady Lady, it depends where you live. I have a Whole Foods, a Trader Joes, and a few Asian markets nearby. Trader Joes sells nuts cheap, the raw pine nuts are way cheaper than Whole Foods. An Asian market is a great place to get young coconuts chea…
  • It’s so unfortunate that the food companys have to cook everything, even something innocent like salsa. Luckily, it’s real easy to make at home. (waterbaby,) Your recipe sounds yummy. The great thing about making raw recipes is that you can pretty m…

  • Another option is taking a green supplement for a while, like e3live or spirulina. I used to be a major junk food junkie. The only green I would touch would be the grass under my feet.lol. My love for greens didn’t happen overnight. Once I started c…
  • When I was in my teens and early 20’s I did the same thing. I was an emotional eater. I pigged out even when I wasn’t hungry. It’s not an easy habit to break but you can do it. My best advice is to stop “obsessing” about food and focus on anything e…

  • Glad you’re back up. I got scared for a minute there!
  • You’re so welcome! I find the more I can help someone with my own experience, the more I am helped.
  • Hi tortue, and welcome. I have to agree with dynamiccoach, I use an excaliber dehydrator. I don’t think the low heat is enough to cause any significant plastic leeching into the food.
  • Wow, there is a lot of “passion,” for lack of a better word, on this post. I need to add some input, based on life experience, and a little knowledge. First of all, I understand the intolerance that a non smoker has to smokers. Everything about ciga…

  • I agree with you hippiechick. To each his (or her) own. It’s easy to get “gung-ho” on a particular facet of life. When you find something you love and that works for you, you just want everyone you know (and even people you don’t know) to grasp it a…
  • RawVoice, there are so many worse things to be addicted to than this web site. If this is your biggest concern, than you are doing better than most. Good luck.
  • Yes, I saw the movie and it is downright scary!!!! The company that is producing genetically modified food actually has a web site that tells us that this is a good thing. This is a paste from their web site. “Monsanto is an agricultural company. …

  • I’ve been raw for 1 year now. I still have urges for some old time “comfort” food. It has nothing to do with physical cravings, it’s just feelings that are deep within me that pop up once in a while. I think it’s different with every person. You hav…
  • I use Bare Minerals, sold by Sephora. If you have a Whole Foods near you, they have pure makeup, although quite expensive. I found that jojoba oil is excellent for makeup removal, and coconut oil is a great natural moisturizer. Hope that helps.

  • I’m amazed at the geographical diversity of everyone. It certainly is true that the internet makes the world a much smaller place. I live in White Plains, N.Y. which is a suburb of NYC. Glad to be part of this great website.
  • I agree greenie, everything on TV is scripted for ratings. That’s what’s it’s all about, especially reality TV.

  • I never introduced myself. I’m Sue, a 40something from ny. I went right from SAD to raw in Jan. 07 (no vegan inbetween for me!) and joined this site last April. It’s been a wild ride and I sometimes jump out while doing 70, but I manage to hop back …
