  • Wow, that would be upsetting, considering how expensive it is!
  • Greens are not imperative for pooping. Maybe for one person or some people they are; but this is not a general truth.

  • Yeah, i don't get stopped up if I eat fats, and my digestion is, well, very smooth normally, so when I say "less smooth" or "not as smooth," it just means that maybe I actually had to wipe something off or there was a slight odor. I still eat tons o…

  • I actually go better without any fats except the natural fats in fruits and vegetables, no avocado, no coconut, no oils, etc. I do eat fats sometimes one day per week, but those days have less smooth digestion.

  • I don't think she was inferring there was something wrong with it, just that she didn't want to eat 1/4 c. per day, as she consumed the recipe within 2 days and it had 1/2 c. of oil in it.
  • I would just put 1/4 or 1/3 of the olive oil called for.
  • A calorie is not a calorie is not a calorie. I supposedly need about 2,200 to maintain my weight, yet as a raw low-fat vegan, I do about 2,000 (rarely) to 3,500 (most of the time) calories a day. I 'should' be gaining weight, but I'm not. I'm just b…
  • Fruit and nuts don't mix well together, no wonder you didn't feel well! Leave the smoothie with just fruit and greens, nothing else, no oils, nuts, seeds!
  • As long as she hasn't be exposed to SAD foods or junky cooked vegan foods (hopefully at age 2 this is all true, but these days people feed their babies crap at age 9 months), it should be fairly easy to introduce fruits. I would pack the fruits in a…

  • I also disagree with adding nuts and seeds or eating any of those regularly, but it's up to you. See how you feel!
  • Honestly, I would skip the powders and bars (except if you have no time for anything else, nothing else sounds good) and go for some fresh, ripe melons and/or bananas. The sweet fruit will up your calories, and in my opinion, is the healthiest, most…
  • http://www.purelydelicious.net/ This is my fave.
  • There's one place listed here: http://vegetarian-restaurants.net/Maryland-Vegetarian-Restaurants/Ocean-City-Vegetarian-Restaurants.htm It says they have salads. This is supposed to be a health-food store within 15 miles of Ocean City, MD: http://www…
  • I think muscle soreness is normal through detox; I have had it myself, unexplained, except for detox. Not sure about the skin.....are you dry brushing?

  • I don't count whether I'm 80-10-10, but I do no added/concentrated fat 6/7 days per week. I'll cut and paste some of my "What Did You Eat Today" postings: Greens/berries/fungus/seaweed powder with green tea Green smoothie with apple, banana, collard…
  • I think if she's eating healthy, she shouldn't want/be thinking about deodorant. Can you elaborate? You can find some tea-tree oil deodorants (NOT anti-perspirant and please don't get that) and Thai crystal deodorant at health food stores and some d…
  • I can't think of a good reason to use cooked/frozen corn! Maybe if you can't get organic fresh and you want organic as opposed to raw? Yeah, that's probably a good reason. :) I'd just rather not eat the artichoke if it's not feasible. If someone tri…
  • I've seen regular artichokes in raw recipes but it didn't give instructions on how to find or cut out the usable (raw) parts. I've also seen Jerusalem artichokes in recipes, but those are easier to peel/find the edible part.
  • I don't know if it was here or not, but I read some stores irradiate all produce now.....I guess I still buy it. But I'm more mindful now and try to go to small markets or the little stands with the independent guys. :/ Thanks for the alert.
  • I should add that I like the sun-dried bagged/vaccum packed ones, unsulfured. The jarred and/or sulfured ones are no good.

  • I think they're kind of salty and chewy, REALLY concentrated tomato flavor that is richer than non-dried/fresh tomatoes. They add good flavor to a raw marinara sauce (or you can do a Mexican one with cilantro) if you mix them with fresh tomatoes, le…

  • Oh, and jicama? Not sure how the prices will be for you or what prices you're used to. I'd get some unpitted/non-dried dates if you find them just cuz they're delicious. :D Sun-dried tomatoes, basil, maybe garlic if you eat it? I would stay away fro…

  • Cilantro, lime juice, oranges?

  • Put things in your body that you do know what they are: fruit and greens. :)
  • I was able to get raw almonds at a few stores in NYC, even already sprouted and dehydrated. I rarely eat nuts or seeds, though. Go to health food stores or raw stores or sites. Otherwise, even ones labeled "raw" (including nut butters) usually aren'…
  • I agree - don't cut yourself off from family and friends unless they are abusive and at least give them one warning if they are crossing the line; they may not realize it.
  • I would say if the culture that you feel exists includes people not respecting your choices and/or being indifferent to how you will feel during and AFTER you eat, then make a new type of culture that consists of eating healthy and respecting one an…
  • You can mix leafy greens with fruit w/o any negative effects, from what I read. I would do water or FRESH apple juice, pears or apples, and a green that you like (spinach, kale, whatever). Blend. If you want more sweetness, add dates or a banana or …
  • Mmm, pulp sounds good. :)
  • I think you can do that. I wouldn't eat a lot of buckwheat or dehydrated foods, but they're nice for a treat.
