  • Hmmm... I read somewhere recently that there is a poisonous compound, cyanide, I think in the pit, but I can't confirm if that is true. It's supposed to protect the avocado from animals eating it, or something.
  • Pirawna- I'm so glad you were able to turn your health around with the raw diet- go you! Your story is inspiring.

  • Hi Kelly, I really recomend trying different combinations and keeping a journal... otherwise you might be restricting yourself from eating some combination that you might enjoy, but that isn't "recomended", eventhough it might work for you. Just a t…

  • Looking on the bright side... Seems like a lot of free advertizing for the raw diet, to me... I mean, everyone who opened up their hotmail that morning had the chance to click and read about the raw diet, and hear NO substantive argument against it,…
  • I add tons of raw garlic (that I smash with a special stone I have just for the purpose) to salad dressings of all kinds. Makes them even yummier. I didn't realize how overboard I'd gone till I heard the comments of a non raw friend who I had over f…
  • Yeah, I like lettuce in a smoothie, it just needs to have some kind of darker green as well, or it tastes kind of odd.

  • (Hi, strong_and_raw, nice to see you.) I'd also like to know how eggplant does with a spiralizer. (Any other fave veggies done that way too?, I'm on the verge of buying one, but just don't want to have tons of equipment lieing around if I won't use …

  • Wow, waterbaby12347, it's really encouraging to hear of all you were able to accomplish with raw!!
  • Hi Sonia, Re: not losing any weight yet, be patient and eat lots of veggies, moderate fruit and limited nuts and plenty of exercize. I know lots of people recommend higher fruit, but if you stick to the above, I'm thinking you'll see some weight los…
  • Hi, PercysLion, Welcome aboard... hope you find the raw lifestyle to be both healthful and enjoyable. Happy transitioning! -osoniye
  • Hi lady25mo2001, I can identify with the frustration, but as others have said, you CAN make it simple. I have found it best just to soak nuts and wash fruits and veggies. Then I grind the nuts in the grinder attachment on my blender to make a pate, …
  • RawLibrarian, I think that's really solid advice!!

  • Hi cargirl0699, Great to read your honest account of your struggle. I think Parsley said so many good things in her reply. I still struggle with eating non-raw things, not so much processed foods, but sometimes. I found a helpful thing to keep sayin…

  • I live in Ethiopia, and the papayas here are HUGE. I think it is more of an issue of different types of papaya. I always laugh when I read a recipe calling for 2 papayas or something, as one of ours is "as big as your head".

  • Hi ABQNick, Reminds me of an experience I had with some ears of corn from the farmers' market in NC... here I am, I live in Africa and have over the years got used to just cutting off and throwing away part of a piece of mango or other fruit if ther…
  • Green smoothie!! Today's was spinach, plums and mango, with cinnamon and nutmeg. Fabulous!!
  • I think the 25g fiber is meant to be a minimum, a target for people who are averaging 5-10 grams, which if I'm not mistaken is the typical SAD intake. These folks would never dream that anyone would ever even try to eat as healthy as a vegan, leave …

  • I just have to add my 2 cents that it probably isn't the best thing to spend too much time analyzing fat content and worrying about it. Just go for balance and see how you feel. If you feel fine on 40% fat for a period of time while you get used to …
  • Hi everybody- Wow, I don't even have a significant other at the moment, but I love some of your ideas here, like making somethign similar only raw and eat together, and I love the idea of making one thing and just adding meat or cheese for someone w…

  • Welcome, JessicaRabbitt, Nice to have you aboard. There are many of us around who are working on going raw for health rather than ethical reasons. I hope you find all the health you seek through making this great choice! -osoniye

  • Hi, kristinseto, This is just to address the part where you say "I am deeply in love with my husband and he is always there for all of us"... I just wanted to encourage you not to let this become one of those issues in your marriage that polarizes t…
  • So, epie, where you at...???!!!! Please let us hear from you.
  • Wow, I think epie has ducked out of town. This is kind of like if you walk up to a couple you haven't seen in a while and say "So how's it going with the new house?" and then WWIII breaks out between them. LOL I think this is a GREAT community, and …
  • Congratulations, KhaasLadki- I look forward to hearing how you are enjoying your long awaited spiralizer. Let us know what veggies/fecipes work best for you. I've been thinking of getting one for along time, but have some raw "equipment" I almost ne…
  • Hi rawcanadian, By the way, do you soak or grind the hemp seeds before you put them in your smoothie?
  • Hi chattanoog- great attitude of tollerance and acceptance. I wish you the best as you start this adventure together!
  • Hi, formosa, Personally, I don't worry about food combining, and I'd say just see how your body reacts, and if certain combinations bother you, avoid them. For me, it helps to eat fruit BEFORE a meal, so some of that glucose gets a chance to get abs…
  • Has anyone heard from MOTH lately? Or going back even farther, justbeautiful? I really miss your posts, guys!
  • Wow, that's getting in the heart of Smithfield's Bar-B-Q land... I don't imagine you'd find anything closer than Raleigh, if even then, or Greenville? Let us know if you find something! -osoniye
