  • Balsamic Vinegar

Sorry to be the one, but I have to point out that the Chinese have vinegar with almost every meal and put it in their cooking, so I cannot imagine 1.3 billion people having digestive problems. I am sure it is used all over asia too so I feel there must be more to these stories than just vinegar being acidic and upsetting the normal balance of the stomach. I mean lemon juice is acidic and many other citrus fruits are acidic - are they not good for us too? Are we leaving our common sense at the front door when we read these articles?

ACV has been used by herbalists for ages as a digestive system enhancer, I am sure they would not recommend it if it was going to be a problem for those with digestion issues.

I feel there are many reasons for bloating, gas and pain in the gut, so I dont think we can blame a particular pH for it all. I mean, in some people maybe it is a reaction to GMO food for example.

  • Holy detox symptoms!

People do not realise that the skin is our largest organ of elimination and when we start to detox, there are normally all avenues of elimination used by the body to get rid of 'stuff' as quickly as possible. If your skin is clogged up, then the elimination of toxins cannot get out that way and so have to go through the normal channels liver, kidneys, gut, etc

Controversially,  I suspect that years of face cream use is not a good thing for our skin, but thats only a hunch and I have no evidence for saying that. I think it might be an easier subsitute for healthy eating and good lifestyle but again, thats only a hunch and will be very unpopular with the women.

Dry skin brushing all over your body, arms, legs, back will help the skin get unclogged and get it working better and so will drinking a lot of water to aid flushing those toxins out through the kidneys, liver etc. Maybe a sauna would help too but not if you have high blood pressure or other health issues.

I went strictly macrobiotic (basically brown rice, pickles, miso, veggies) for 6 months and that caused a lot of elimination to occur too. I would say that as long as you drink enough and open up all the elimination channels, your body should be able to cope but it really depends on how badly you needed this detox ! If your body cannot get rid of everything quickly enough that it needs to, then there will be stuff trying to get out which cannot.

Although I am not from the USA, I have the impression that the medical establishment had a fairly strong hold on the 'alternative' medical scene there.  I am more used to the UK where we have many different options and therapies available. In Switzerland for example, you can buy homeopathic medicine over the counter at pharmacies and doctors will often prescribe this over allopathic medicine. So what health/healing career would someone who does a degree which is not medicine be allowed to persue?

Maybe I have picked up completely the wrong idea but as someone looking in, it seems that in the US many 'fringe'/alternative therapies have been squashed and prosecuted out of existence.

Now I am in China and my father-in-law is a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor and they are very highly though of here and have been for hundreds of years. Are there acupuncturists and TCM practitioners there in the USA for instance?
