jmasterson, you’re right that humans are meant to live on fruit, however, keep in mind that fruit has changed massively over the years- it’s been cultivated and hybridized and it’s much sweeter than before. Also, the depleted soil means that it has much less minerals than it should. All this means that we need to add things that are less natural for us to eat- such as large quantities of greens that aren’t too palatable, in forms that make it moreso- like juice or smoothie, to supplement the missing minerals and to balance out the excess sugar. Fruit is great, don’t get me wrong, I love it, but if I don’t balance it out with some fat and lots of greens, I get really wonky.

  • over-soaking nuts

I don’t see how this would be a problem. You’d be better off to refrigerate them though to make sure they don’t get rancid.

  • cashew substitutes

I would suggest young coconut meat, when it’s a little too mature- beyond the jelly level, when it’s kinda hard. It’s perfectly creamy when you blend it well. Also, hemp seeds are a great substitute for a lot of creamy nuts.

  • Extremely High Cholesterol :(

Your cholesterol isn’t raised from eating cholesterol. It doesn’t matter if you actually eat cholesterol or not. And from what I gathered, excess fat of any kind will eventually raise your overall cholesterol. I’m not saying eat as little fat as possible, or eat as little saturated fat as possible (some is very good, like in coconut) I am saying try not to go overboard with it, I guess try to consume it in a more natural way if possible (meaning, as a whole food like avocado or nuts, not oils, and not too far with nuts as in nature you wouldn’t be able to have a lot of them at once) Especially if you’re trying to lose weight, it’s a good idea to just be mindful about it. Don’t count calories or fat grams!

  • Raw Diet in a Temperate Climate

Avocados are sooo good for smoothies! Sometimes I will blend up: 1 date, 2 bananas (frozen if I can, it is summer now after all…) and 1/2 an avocado with a handful of spinach or whatever I have, and sometimes a scoop of cacao (but if you’re not into that, it’s ok) and it’s wonderful! :c)))
