Raw for Diabetics

My mother is diabetic and thinking of trying the raw vegan diet for overall health and weight loss. We were just wondering what the limitations are.

How many fruits and nuts can a diabetic have in a day without adversely affecting blood sugar levels?

Would raw vegetables be unlimited(excluding starchy vegetables)?

Is anyone here diabetic and would you like to share your story?

Thanks everyone!

Watch the trailer to the new film “Raw For 30 Days”.

  • Thank you. I’ve seen that trailer, but it doesn’t say much about the specifics. That’s what inspired us, actually, and I just wish she could go to the retreat, but it’s very expensive.

Victoria Boutenko cured her son of type 1 diabetes, their website id http://www.rawfamily.com I haven’t read her book The Raw Family which is about her family’s transition to raw, but I hear it is excellent and probably details her son’s transition. I have read her other book 12 steps to raw which is amazingly good!

i’ve noticed i can’t have too much sprouted grains, it really seems to spike my blood sugar, but i am type 1, so probably much more sensitive than type 2. no problem with nuts because they have very little carbs.
