Non edible Raw's

Being new to raw there is a question I ask myself all the time when walking at the abundant markets looking for produce-

is it edible raw?

There are so many vegetables and greens here that I don't know from my own country, and I know there are certain vegetables that are toxic when raw.

So is there a list for raw foodists where one can check?

A list including asian greens?

Can some be slightly steemed f.ex.

I know this applies to mushrooms too, and there are so many mushrooms here I'd like to try also.

Hoping some of you have a link to a good site on the subject.

most things are edible raw its just some people have a problem with them.

steaming cruciferous veg, like borccoli and kale can make it easier to digest. you can also marinate them for a similar effect.

mushrooms can be eaten raw although the bother some people. try a variety you know raw, if no problems then keep going. nightshade veg- same thing.

if its a green found in a market you can eat it raw. but when in doubt- simply ask someone that works there. generally a market isn't going to sell toxic produce, or if they do they may say- 'for animal feed only'

  • Thank you wichten.
