Raw food toxicity issues

Here are a couple of links to toxic plants/raw foods for information.

Scary! I have been blending apples with seeds for a long time because I read in one of the books (probably by a very famous raw foodist - I don't want to name the book without verifying and I don't have the book with me right now) that apple seeds contain iodine and raw foodists need it because we don't use iodized salt.

It appears from the above that we should not be eating sweet potatoes raw.

Also, I thought that potato skin is nutritious - the source below says that it is toxic.

Sources cited in the above links also say that common button mushrooms and alfalfa sprouts are poisonous.

So what do we believe?

If the above are true, these should get more attention and exposure (esp for newbies) from raw food promoters - something I haven't seen and I have read plenty.

I know some will say eat everything in moderation. I do that already but we still need to know.

Comments/discussion welcome.

I will only comment on the apples. While apples do have cyanide, the body is fully capable of processing it and therefore it doesn't matter. In fact, every healthy cell in the body is capable of neutralizing the poison - except for, you guessed it, cancer cells. When the poison comes into contact with healthy cells, it is neutralized; when it comes into contact with a cancer cell, the cell is destroyed. Sounds like a good deal to me. I'll keep eating my apples thank you.
