All grass is safe and good for you, but humans do not have the ability to digest grass fiber that is why cows have like 5 or 6 compartments in their stomach.

Just juice the grass do not mix it with anything and wait an hour before eating or drinking anything else. you will need a special juicer for greens.

Wheat grass helps with major detox that is why it upsets you when you mix it.

  • Wheatgrass has cellulose in it, which as Blue_Eyes is saying, we can't digest. This is why we do not eat grass like cows and horses. Pretty awesome your vitamix can handle wheatgrass though :D

  • They are right. You shouldn't eat the wheatgrass stalks, but wheatgrass juice is safe. The juice is actually where the nutritional benefits come from. has some info as to why this is the case.

    Hope your stomach feels better.

  • I experienced the same thing once malchusmom! I had a juice from whole foods of carrot and orange and asked them to toss in wheatgrass juice. 10 minutes after drinking it my stomach knotted up and I threw up everything. It really hurt my stomach so bad I couldn't eat the rest of the day. I'll pass on that grass :)

Yes it is best taken alone on an empty stomach

  • It definitely has a detoxifying effect. If anyone's interested in trying the juice in powder form Sweet Wheat is offering a sample kit that comes with some brochures and a CD.
