Cere Gel/Irish Moss/Chia Seeds

germin8germin8 Raw Master

So, I have been looking for a substitute for agar and someone told me about Cere Gel (pronounced like sarah)... saying it is a raw gelatin-like substitute. Anyone heard of it? Where can I get it? Would it make a good substitute for agar or lecithin? How much should I use?

Thank you so much for the reply Lucy! I hope it works just as good as agar. I have to add boiling water to get it to gel up. So, now I’m curious to see how this will work. Thanks so much!

I’m still looking to see if anyone has heard of Cere Gel. I’m curious about that now.

I have never heard of cere gel but am always interested in learning about new products. Ground up chia seeds should be a great substitute and you don’t have to add hot water. It also has awesome benefits as well. Here are a couple of links for further info and how to use them. Hope this helps.

RCBAlive, I like the idea that chia seeds don’t require hot water… and that they don’t have much flavor (I think that’s what you said on another post).

The person who told me about cere gel is from Colorado… so maybe it is (currently) only found there.

Yup Germin, no flavor. That’s one of the parts I like about it so much!

How well does Irish Moss store? If it doesn’t last too long… then, before I buy a pound of Irish Moss, are there other recipes that use it? I see a recipe for ice cream which I will try… and I will also try it on my creme pie.

Chia seeds… I don’t know where to get those. I’m actually not too excited about trying them. We’ll see.
