Gray film on coconut

Just bought a coconut for this first time. Didn't even know how to pick it out. The best way to explain how the water tasted was cleaning chemical. Pried the meat off the shell and there was a gray film between the meat and shell. It can be scraped off but is the meat still good?

    I'm not sure the cleaning chemical flavor is a good indication. I would see how far the film goes and if the rest of the coconut still smells and tastes okay.
