Experiences buying secondhand Vitamix?

I was wondering whether anyone here has purchased a secondhand, earlier model Vitamix?

I know Tanja from freshtopia.net, has a 3600 model Vitamix she purchased off Ebay and she seems to have had no problems. :-)

If you have done this, would you recommend it? Are there certain models I should look for/avoid? Or do you think it would be best to purchase a new Vitamix from a certified dealer with a warantee?
