My favorite green smoothie is….
3 handfuls of greens
2 apples
1 orange
1 pear
and 1 young coconut. I like to juice my apples, pear, and orange first because I don’t like my smoothies thick, then put every thing else in the blender and enjoy!!!
I made this one this morning:
1 Handful Dandelion Greens
4 Leaves Kale
1 Large Handful Spinach
2 Stalks Celery (with greens on top)
1 Cup Mango
1 Frozen Banana
3 Prunes
1 Date (pitted)
About a cup of water
About 8 Ice Cubes
Pinch Stevia
(I added a little Vanilla Bean to make it special for Valentine’s Day)
Blend on High in Vitamix, split with husband, YUM!
Sounds great Sedone! I love green smoothies so much! can you tell?
i’m still kind of grossed out by green smoothies, but love green juice. is that weird? here’s my favorite green juice recipe!
i head celery
2 apples
1 lemon
1/2 bunch spinach
1/2 inch piece ginger
this makes over a quart of juice. i love to have this as one of my meals!
I don’t think it’s weird. I also love green juice. I have some green juice recipes on here if you want to check them out. There called…. My Favorite Green Juice and Sweet green smoothie/juice. hope you like them!!!
Does anyone ever put sprouts in their green smoothies? I have seen lots of recipes for green drinks, but none of them ever say to add sprouts. Just wondering if there is some reason not to?
Marcy
I put sprouts in my smoothies when I want to get rid of them, or sometimes just for the sake of it. Like this morning, I sprouted too much quinoa (the only homemade sprouts I’ve been successful with so far) so a threw in about a big hand full into my blender. Couldn’t even taste it. If anything, the quinoa helped give a creamier texture. I never make the same green smoothie every morning. I blend anything I have around that I feel like. But usually I include the following into my smoothies:
1 or 2 apples
1 or 2 bananas
kale leaves
celery stalks
ground flaxseeds
and/or hemp seeds
..oh, and the juice of a lemon. Always. And I don’t know why.
Here’s one I found on this site that looks tasty :)
Preparation
Put the freshly squeezed Orange Juice into high power blender. Add Kale or Collard Leaf. Blend on low speed gradually increasing to highest speed until smooth. Pour into glasses and ENJOY!
P.S. If you want it icy add a scoop of ice before blending. We prefer ours room temperature.
My favorite: 2 super ripe organic bananas, 1 cup frozen organic strawberries, 6 large leaves of organic romaine and either 2 big leaves of organic kale or a big handful of organic spinach. So good!
