does spirulina go bad?

so i’ve had some spirulina on my shelf in the kitchen (not refrigerated) for like, at least a year, probably more than that. it smells super weird, but spirulina is kind of weird smelling stuff. does it go bad? i’m drinking some in a smoothie right now. it doesn’t taste bad. do you think it could be hurting me?
