are broken flaxseeds toxic

i just got a dehydrator to experiment with crackers , when i got told whatever i did not to break the flaxseed/ linseed in any way but to keep them whole as they become highly toxic when exposed to dehydration because of the fats in them
any one shed light on this particular subject…..

  • Carmentina and flybaby are correct. The only way to get to the highly nutritious good stuff in the flax seed is to get it open before you swallow it. Either by chewing really really well, or grinding the seeds before you add them to your recipe.
I like raw cookbook author Gabriella Chavez’s technique. Take your recipe for crackers (whatever recipe you like) and add your flax seeds in your food processor, then add water, just to cover them. leave for 4 to 8 hours. This will ‘wake them up’ and make them alive. Then blend well. Then add the rest of your ingredients. Then pour it onto your teflex & dehydrate!
