Sadly, there really aren’t any “raw” restaurants in DC per se, like there are in NYC and other places. If there were, you better believe I’d be a regular!
Here are a couple of places I have been:
Everlasting Life at 2928 Georgia Avenue NW.(“http://www.everlastinglife.net/”;). This is a deli, not a restaurant.
Java Green at 1029 19th Ave. NW has great smoothies and no doubt has some good raw salads on their menu (“http://www.javagreen.net/”;)
I haven’t been to Jamba Juice; I’ve heard good things about it.
Sorry I can’t be more help; I just have not found raw food, aside from salad, at restaurants here.
Hi apcountrymanager, there may not be a restaurant but you could get a taste of gourmet raw food by ordering from a delivery service. I have heard good things about Rawvolution, I’m not sure if they do all over the USA or not, I think they do. If you try them let us know how the food is. Here’s the link: http://www.rawvolution.com/
There are probably lots of other companies doing this as well. It’s a good alternative to going to a restaurant.
There’s also Yabba Pot in MD. And Loving Life Cafe in Hanover, PA… I know it’s a drive. Then there is the Raw Meet Up also! We’ve been to one for Thanksgiving. Source of Life Juice Bar is part of Everlasting Cafe, but you have to call for the menu.
If you go to Sala Thai in Ashburn, you can order the Green Papaya Salad and Garden Rolls, about 90% raw.
I suppose Robeks is food for their juices.
To shop? Roots Market in Clarksville/Olneyhas great raw food selections. The Common Market in Frederick is a good place to shop. There’s another co-op place near College Park somewhere that has some raw options. Then, there’s Natural Zing in MD, but they’re mainly online.
